Benik Afobe - SIGNING CONFIRMED

Time was I'd have snapped your hand off. Now I'd obviously be underwhelmed but there is no doubt at all he has ability. Reality is Bournemouth was maybe a step too far, Wolves had too much competition and an underachieving Stoke were maybe the wrong club to rebuild a career. It could be a surprisingly good move.

He's only 26 still and actually, bar Stoke and then Bournemouth in the PL, has a pretty decent scoring record. Pretty much 1 in 2 at Wolves and that was in this league.

A bit underwhelming because recently he's been poor, but he's clearly a good player. We could do worse..

When he's at his best he's the sort of player we've missed for years. Instinctive goalscorer, quick and clever.

Both wrong, loans can still be done a week after deadline. Strange

Sorry you are incorrect, the loan window closed the same time, you can only sign a unattached player

This really is get and body rather than no one, not impressed

Not the wow signing we wanted but if we can get his wolves form back out of him who knows. Still massively frustrated though.

Before he moved to Stoke, there'd be much more enthusiasm for this move.

If I remember correctly, lots of people wanted him in the window where we ended up with Diony.

Don't let the Stoke spell fool you - he's a good player and knows the league. Just had a barren patch recently.

Attribute wise, he's exactly what we need in my opinion. Could be a very shrewd signing. Less of a risk than an unknown player from abroad and not some journeyman on his last legs.

Would've preferred Reid - but this might be a really good deal.

Had a tough couple of seasons but is a number 9 and will hit double figures I reckon. Stoke a tough place to play last season.

I do think this signing was a long way down Johnson’s list of preferred strikers however.

Don’t think so, pretty sure today was the last day for any transfers. Only L1 & L2 can loan in players until end of August

But I think Afobe could do well in our side, had a few bad seasons now but definitely a goalscorer in there somewhere

Hopefully LJ and the rest of the coaching staff can bring the best out of him

8 goals in 46 games for Stoke

and people said Fam didnt score enough...

Stoke were poor and are hardly known for attacking play. We attack far more so he'll score more. Not sure if he'd work in a 2 with Diedhiou though?

it's clearly Plan T though, which is the real worry

Stoke signed Scott Hogan yesterday. It's possible they weren't willing to let Afobe go until that move happened.

I've liked Afobe for years and if he finds his form I'm confident he'll be very good for us.

Stoke had a great season as well...

Surprised he is only 26 seems to have been around for a longer time than that.

Very talented player a couple or three years ago, hopefully he still has it - much more mobile than Diedhiou.

Feels like Holly Willoughby turned me down and I’ve ended up without Anne Widdicombe, clinging to the faint hope that she might at least be a good cook.

THIS is the one to trot out if he turns out to be good.
