From what I saw...West Brom didn't know wether they were coming or going in the opening 15 minutes because they couldn't work out who to mark...we were all over the place but in an effective way!! West Brom were forced to make that early substitution and were forced to mark us man for man which is amazing considering they are a Premier league side!! We were causing them problems I felt...anybody notice this or was it just me..??

You can't be serious....brains are not the factor here ability is the factor!! Do you think that League One sides will be able to cope with us as well as Premier league sides then..?? I don't! Especially if we don't change the entire team at half-time.....!! WATCH OUT LEAGUE ONE  YOU BETTER BE READY FOR US :me?:

Surely you'd admit that the formation and tactics a team employs will have a considerable impact on the game ?

What I meant was..even if League One sides do work us out it will be a much harder job for a League One side to stop us in our tracks than it would a Premier league side like West Brom....and let's not forget we changed the entire team in the second half to give kids a run out last night..

I think we looked very dangerous in the first 15 minutes.....lots of pace, running into space, players switching, spreading the ball and to be honest with the chances we had should of been 3-0 up. I do believe we probably caught WBA on the hop hence the need to change their game plan. After that they settled down and started to take a bit of control. That said, I wasn't very impressed with the Albion and think the 1-3 scoreline flattered them. The City squad again looks quite strong for this division and if we can bring in a big, strong target man for the other strikers to play off and generally cut out the those niggling mistakes we seem to make every now and then, we have what I believe a team/sqaud good enough to be front runners, hopefully right up until May.

I'd love a proper target man to come in with experience so that we can play a couple of runners alongside him and a also a runner in the hole....that would be awesome....we've certainly got the runners in Murray, Heffernan, Gillespie, Goodfellow, Roberts and Lita....it's unique for a lower league squad to even have one runner like Murray, Roberts or Goodfellow but we seem to have loads....

Let's not forget that there is such thing as bringing quick players on off the bench to capitalise on oppositions tiring legs....if we do go up this season we'll be going up in an exciting manner....

Last season, there were so many times that the ball was just being banged up from defence and coming straight back as we didn't have anyone who could hold up the ball/play for the on-running players, although peacock did to a certain extent.

What I found noticeable last night was that virtually every ball that was played high into the forwards was just being mopped up by the centre backs. Admittedly, they were big guys but are the type of defenders we will be up against most of the season. Hopefully, Tinnions philosophy of playing more to feet, running at the defence etc will be succesful and we have the players that can make this work but there will be times when you have to play it a bit more long or swing more crosses in and at present all our forwards are relitively small. Miller is the only "biggish" forward but still seems to be bossed off the ball at times.

As Tinnion suggested, we may still need that big, target man!

Quote: For example, in the season before last some sides worked out that if you have your left-back sitting deep, you can deal with Murray a lot more effectively because he can't run past them into open space.

seems an odd example to use as he scored 26 goals that season! I know what you're saying though, i'm sure the formation will come as no surprise to leroy and his team on saturday, as tinman is quite happy to let the world know all about his plans. That said i'm confident with the players we have (plus a big forward hopefully) we have more than enough quality to get out of this div.
