Robbo Should Leave Ashton Gate

I must admit, watching last night I thought to myself what does Roberts have to do to get in the first team on a regular basis.

He scored a lot of goals in the last 10 or so games last season and there he was last night, playing on the right wing (I know it was 4-3-3, but he was still on the right hugging the line, getting no service) in a team with all the young kids coming through

I'm sure he must have also thought 'What do I have to do!'

Of course not. What a preposterous idea. Why would we want to weaken our squad?

I said "I am convinced Roberts should find himself a different club as soon as possible".

Only you have mentioned "WE" as in Bristol City.

I'm talking about from his perpective.

Glad to see you don't like the idea from "our" perspective though

I would just like to say good luck to Roberts this season, He has a lot of doubters and I think after the stick he takes week after week I'm amazed hes still here. If hes patient I think he will play a major role this season. I am behind him 100% and if brian believes hes deserves to start then he will.

No. It's not certain yet that BT won't use him properly.

BT has already said that everyone knows what CR can do.

If that means what I think it means, it means he's an effective striker and wasted on the right.

It also means he should get a fair chance to play on match day.

Lets just wait and see.....

Roberts please , please GO,Go,GO,GO

As for why , simple , he's not very good , unless of course your rating him on his impersonation of a headless chicken who can't shoot.

Why would we want to get rid of Christian Roberts???? Ok he's not the World's best striker but last season he scored and set up some very vital goals eg QPR

winner, Marc Goodfellows goal against hartlepool he set up with a cross and then he scored possibly the most important goal of his career to date. He is a key part of the team and we need to keep Robbo! :):)

Not a cat in hells chance. If anyone should be going it's that waste of space Miller, who since the atrotious miss at Swindon seems to have lost it completely. His touch has gone, his main contribution to last night was starting a nice move then finishing it by getting in Gillespies way as he was about to pull the trigger.

Are you blind??

Miller is 20 (? 21?) years old. He is good in the air, and okay at holding up. Masses of potential.

Or just impatient?

I am convinced Roberts should find himself a different club as soon as possible.

Agree or disagree?  why?

Tinman rates him, 90%+ of the fans rate him.

It's the same old Roberts haters who reply to every thread.

Shows how few of them there are, an ever shrinking minority.

ONE mistake from Roberts and they're down on him like a ton of bricks for the whole match, one senseless foul from Doherty and its a rousing chorus with a standing ovation.

Personally i don't know ONE City fan who wants Roberts out. The few who do are vociferous on here and at matches and its up to the rest of us to drown them out.

Roberts is an asset to City whether they LIKE him or not.

Miller does have ability, and bags of it, but ever since that miss at Swindon, he has been poor. I truly hope he can put it behind him, and hopefully the break will have helped him get over it, but on the evidence of the games of last season it played on his mind then, and then knowing that we didn't get up and that if you had to put our failure to get promotion into one single incident it almost certainly has to be his miss at Swindon.

He has a lot of potential, but i have a feeling he will be another one of those players who for whatever reason never really makes it with us, and the his carrear goes on to blossom when he leaves.

I am certainly not a Roberts hater, I like the guy, but I think he should leave. Mainly for the sake of his career, it doesn't seem like he is the type of player that can or will suceed here.

He has gotten a bad wrap with a large section of the city fans. I hope he finds a situation that would work better for him and that he thrives and moves his way up.

What more does Roberts have to do to get the fans on his side?! He's played one "competitive" game since the Hartlepool game when both him and Goodfellow were hailed as heroes. He scored in both legs against Cardiff the season before last etc and has had to put up with other players playing ahead of him not always on form, and being stuck out on the right wing after being the 2nd top-scorer the previous season!

This season could be make or break for Roberts but let's give him a chance before the season has even started!

The Roberts haters seem to have their reasons and are sticking to them; some for his attitude, some for his club-allegiance, some for his footballing-ability etc..but let's give him a chance this year before he's hounded out and we realise what we could be missing. A few players have got a lot to prove this year but let's not knock them down before the first ball has been kicked in anger!

With the strikers we have at our disposal the rest of the divisions defenders will be bricking it! Imagine Heffernan-Murray-Lita all running rings around Torquay..then the subs board goes up with Tinnion deciding to freshen up the attack. The tired defenders think great we can rest a bit now and then a fresh Roberts, Miller and Gillespie all come on in their place!!

Roll on Torquay..hope some players shut their critics up!!

Personnally, i reckno he should go.

It's not that he's a waste of space, but he's just to inconsistant, he rarely gets back and tries fancy poo all the time. He goal to shot ratio must be balls, and he cares to much about his hair than scoring!!

The light is green, now GO!

Having been away from the forum over the close season I'm so glad I was because on returning the first thing I see is a negative comment about Roberts. Oh why do some people have this attitude about a hard-working player? I believe the small number who have a problem with Roberts are anti-Welsh in the main, and the others just don't see the work he puts in and want 100% faultless displays which you'll never get.

And there is NOT a large number who are anti, its a noisy minority. Frankly HE should have been up front last season not that lump of lard Peacock. If he had City would be in the next division up (I refuse to call it by its current name out of utter disgust at the greedy marketing morons in charge of our game).

Surely its about perception. We all see players and what they bring to the team differently.

I seem to recall that you were probably one of Joe Burnell's biggest critics where as others may have seen him differently.

In terms of effort etc I think Burnell probably gave more to the team than Roberts. No one could ever accuse him of giving less than 100% every game. Unfortunately people were only ever keen to pick up on the neagtive aspects of his game. Same thing with Roberts I'm afraid.

What has convinced you of this ?

How can anyone agree or disagree when you have given no reasons to support your statement ?

It's like saying "all immigrants should leave Britain - agree or disagree".

:)

Sorry, but I was trying to give people more credit.

Why would a big roberts fans want his star player to leave this particular club I wonder?

After all, the chanting of his name at times is deafening. And, he receives no abuse whatsoever when he's on the pitch. I also think our most experienced striker has been given too many chances in the friendlies alongside his fellow midfielders up-front :)

The guy IMO deserves a club where he can start afresh and play first team football with supporters and a manager prepared to accept his strengths and his weaknesses.

I hope he gets it.

Robbo is a good player and is a confidence player as was shown at the end of last season when he was scoring reguarly. I think that if everyone gets behind him (and the rest of the team) We will see a more confident and therefore better Roberts.

He's had long enough to prove himself now. His good points do not out weigh the fact that he is lazy, has no positional sense, and couldn't pick out a tart in a brothel let alone a red shirt in the box!!!!

See ya Robbo!!!!!

Roberts deserves a first team place......

his first season he got 17 goals and then last season he started playing out of position and when he got his chance again he scored 5 in 8 or something........ so he should never have been dropped in the first place!

I was never ever ever a Peacock fan but Hmm, I bet there's a smilie on here that conveys laughter but I'm too lazy to look for it. at starting Roberts ahead of him.

Leapy was never the most gifted of strikers but his work ethic was outstanding he chased down a hell of a lot and put more work into a game than Roberts shows effort in a season.

God this is boring, Roberts will leave sooner or later and when he does good luck to him first team football is the goal for any pro and if he settles for the bench his intentions are crystal.

No way, Id rather get rid of Miller, How many times was he MOTM when he was given his chance by that bloke whats his name?..... Oh Mr Wilson, CR is a match winner and is easily the 2nd or 3rd best striker we got, Even better than the over-rated Leroy!
