Fit and proper person is not a description that fits Barton is it?

Unfortunately he is probably a better fit than some owners of club football around the world. That's the worrying thing.

Serious question though, aside from the fact that he is a scumbag that fits in well there, who in their right mind would want to buy them?

They have a decrepid, hideous looking ground that is mortgaged to the hilt, an ageing fan base, no prospects of getting a new ground anytime soon, a transfer record that is probably older than the average age of supporters at most clubs, and no history (other than a worth nothing cup they crowe about, and finishing higher than us one time 30+ years ago!)

Taking my red hinted glasses off and looking at them as a neutral, there is nothing there to build upon, unless you're willing to knock down the existing ground, spend copious amounts of money doing that, and a fair amount on trying to get the squad and infrastructure in place.

Barton is (if there's any truth in it) just talking more BS to humour the few. This leads me onto my next question - how do you know when Joey Barton is talking BS again? The answer - he just opens his mouth.

I am not suggesting that there is anything untoward in Joey and his "friends" considering a purchase of the Gas, but have you ever watched Ozark and seen how a money laundering operation can be run behind a legitimate organisation?

Ah, no worries here. The comparison falls down at, “legitimate operation”?

One of the fewers is promoting the suggestion that Barton and others want to buy the club from Wally.

Awesome. I would happily chip in.Could you imagine if he actually owned them?I think we should organise a whip round.

There are multiple reasons aren't there?

The basic one is that you want to run your personal football club.  This is ego.

Beyond that it could be that you want to use it as a cash cow (Glazers), think you can make a short term profit out of it before selling it (Power), want something to do between meals (Wael), or want to leave a sporting legacy (the Lansdowns).

In Joey's case I suspect the drive is in order to have an excuse for starting more fights down the pub.

"Bristol Rovers are rubbish."

"Oi, that's MY club you're calling rubbish sunshine, want to make something of it?"

Joey having a polite discussion on the football pitch.

The only issue with the Blue few is how would they even turnover all of the cash to clean it up? I expect the Casino in Ozark would turn over in one evening the same as Rovers turn over in a season. I guess the Sags could say they sold more out of date crisps and fake Fanta and fake a few invoices and receipts,, and they could also sell a few thousand imaginary season tickets due to their shit crowds. Other than that I think they would be stumped as a money laundering operation!!

Guess he'd pass then.

Which tells you all about the state of the O&D test really.

To be clear, I wouldn't want Barton to own the club, however, I think that people who have dodgy financial goings on in the business world are much more dangerous to the future of any club than a bloke who had a 6 month prison sentence 18 years ago.

Oh I agree. The greatest threat to English football right now is the increasing ownership of football clubs by American private equity investors.

I didn't know how long ago Barton's conviction was. I just know that under the current EFL O&D test if you have an unspent conviction for  certain offences then that is one way you can fail. Sounds like BArton has a) spent his conviction and b) probably was not convicted of a crime that is considered by the O&D test. Assuming all that he'd probably pass.

Now I like to think of myself as a fairly intelligent kinda chap, but for the life of me I don’t have a bloody clue what the words on the front of this program say.

Does it say U Hoole? Genuinely stumped. Please help.

It’s meant to say Luca Hoole I assume who is the player pictured. It’s terrible art work.

How stupid can they be. Why would they want Joey Bellend to own the club when they have a billionaire with infinite resources, and a nice watch, in charge at the moment.

Mickey Mouse watch and a Mickey Mouse Club.

As Donald Duck might say " "Short-of-a-few Quadi" must have been quackers to have bought that club. What a Wally !"

Penalty was nuts too.  Upend a player posing little threat in full view of the ref.

Picking up on what others are talking about, I'd personally love it if Barton bought the club off Wally. Top flight footballers earn a fair bit, but I don't think he'd have anywhere near the pockets of the 11th richest person from the Arab World's poorest nation.  Even if he brought a few Scouse gangsta types in on the deal.

How expensive is Barton's watch, assuming he can tell the time?

I doubt it's worth that much as he's probably still limited to digital watches.

Those ones with all the stick things on them are just too confusing for him.

I didn't think it was a penalty, I was in the Exeter end and it was right in front of me and it looked like the Exeter player backed right in. When the whistle went , the Exeter player turned away assuming it was against him. no hint of an appeal from him

, then he started laughing in Evans face when he realised he had got the penalty!
