Guest shire_redz Posted August 10, 2004 Posted August 10, 2004 ...did anybody apart from the bookies fancy our chances this season? I've followed City for far too long to ever get carried away or too excited about anything. I reckon the best way is to just try and enjoy the season, and if we scrape the play-offs it will be a bonus. On a more positive note, Lita 2 games 2 goals!
Guest Div1.ere.we.come Posted August 10, 2004 Posted August 10, 2004 Yes i did think we were goin to get promoted and i still do its just we need to get a thew sings sorted, firstly - Formation 4-3-3 aint werking we need width and personally i think 3-5-2 secondly - some players are being played out of posistion a.k.a murray he is not a striker he needs to get wide so he can put crosses in. thirdly - Crossing and lack of service - we need to get some crosses over to are striker they all like to use there head , also it would be nice to see them on the ball but they just arnt being passed to, so no strikers no goals. i would play Phillips smith-coles-hill murray-orr-doherty-tinman/fortune-bell/goodfellow heffernan-gillespie i like to see wingers running down skinning players and delivering good corsses we got players who can do that so we need to use them. if we can sort it out then we still will get promotion were only 2 games in so C'mon City!
reddoc Posted August 10, 2004 Posted August 10, 2004 I think as soon as Tin's decides to manage we'll see what this team is capable of. Very short list of sucessful player managers , looks like Tin's unlikely to add to it. Time to put the suit on.
elko Posted August 10, 2004 Posted August 10, 2004 I think a lot of people were expecting instant success. A new manager, a new assistant, a new formation, new players - it takes time to get it right.
Guest TinmansCulturedLeftPeg Posted August 10, 2004 Posted August 10, 2004 firstly - Formation 4-3-3 aint werking← I wouldn't just blame it on 4-3-3 though only because we're not even playing 4-3-3! I'd blame it on the fact that we have Murray on the right flank and nobody on the left flank....that's the major problem....another problem is that the three midfielders are all over the place rather than playing zonal like this - 'left-centre-right Tinnion-Doherty-Orr left-centre-right'.... 3-5-2 with Bell and Murray wing-backs would be almost guaranteed to work(as it has done in the past),and a zonal three-man midfield as I mentioned above,3-5-2 would give us desperately-needed balance.... Or 4-4-2 with Anyinsah or Goodfellow on the left-wing,if target-man Miller was up front then Anyinsah or Goodfellow could have some freedom to fill the hole at times....Murray on the right-wing,Orr and Doherty in midfield.... I'm sure more than most would nod in appoval at my above comments......
Wilksi Posted August 10, 2004 Posted August 10, 2004 Before the season starterd I honestly thought that we would get promoted... but now... we need to turn things round and wuick.. I know its only 2 games in.. but what happens when it is 10?? "oh its only 10 games in" etc etc.... 4-3-3 hasnt worked at all.. Is it really worth giving it ANOTHER chance on saturday??
Tully Bascomb Posted August 10, 2004 Posted August 10, 2004 It will be a sad day when he does hang up the boots. Still one of the better players but it`s very difficult to do both. Perhaps start as sub for a few games.
