Dolman_Stand
Who would be in your top 20 clubs in England based on history, heritage, fan base etc?
SBB
I’d like to see a Villa fan, a Sunderland fan and a Forest fan fight to the death with pillows, for 20th place. 1

You’re joking right? They’ve won the top division in England 7 times, they’ve won 12 domestic cups and four European trophies ... 20th Place?! Hahaha! Coxy27
Man United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Man City, Spurs, Villa, Everton, Newcastle, Forest, Wolves, Blackburn, Sunderland, Sheffield Wednesday, Leeds, West Ham, Leicester, West Brom, Sheffield United... And Bristol City. Sounds great. No relegation...
Kodjias Wrist
Thought it would be easier to names which teams I would replace with which. In random order. Burnley for Pompy. Brighton for Sheff Wed. Can't stand blades. Brentford for Notts Forest. Watford for Sunderland. Palace for Derby. Tough not to include Ipswich and Coventry. 9 minutes ago, Coxy27 said: Man United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Man City, Spurs, Villa, Everton, Newcastle, Forest, Wolves, Blackburn, Sunderland, Sheffield Wednesday, Leeds, West Ham, Leicester, West Brom, Sheffield United... I always forget about the crazy gang Wimbledon. Edited April 4, 2022 by Kodjias Wrist

Eddie Hitler
I would say selection by all time total games won. Because those who have won the most games are the best teams. https://www.englishfootballleaguetables.co.uk/stats/totals.html 3

Apart from that can’t argue. Edited April 4, 2022 by Malago

Blackburn Rovers 13. Notts County 14. Tottenham Hotspur 15. Burnley 16. Norwich City 17. Southampton 18. Manchester City 19. Bolton Wanderers PLUS 20. Bristol City Some long away trip for us, but that's a proper league. Arsenal are omitted. Relegated to the Championship to see if they can actually gain promotion through sporting merit rather than boardroom shenanigans. They must also return to Woolwich and play their games there. Derby are omitted due to very recent history. They are relegated to whichever league will take the shattered husk of a club that they are.

So with all the top notch honours they’ve won, why would you have Villa ‘fighting for 20th place’ in the ‘who deserves to be in the premier league’ mythical table? Sir Geoff
In this hypothetical could we refer to it as the First Division......no more of this Premier League.. 1
Baba Yaga
Man Utd Liverpool Arsenal Chelsea Man City Tottenham Leeds Everton Aston Villa Newcastle West Ham Sunderland Leicester Southampton Wolves Sheff Wed N Forest West Brom Derby Blackburn (very hard to pick final club, could easily be Middlesbrough, Sheff Utd instead but Blackburn have been in the top flight for more seasons overall and have won title in old and modern eras)

First football memories are around 1996 - so not far off. However - if you look at the most successful English clubs in terms of total trophies won domestically and in Europe - the 19 I've listed are the top 19. So purely on a footballing success measure, this would be an all time list, nothing to do with the early 2000s. The 20th club was just for fun...
