Watching Boro v Huddersfield and the Boro keeper just caught a lobbed back pass from Bamba which was definitely going in if he hadn`t. The ref gave an indirect free kick inside the area but Hudds wanted him sent off for denying a goal scoring opportunity (which it undoubtedly was).

The ref got it right IMO - anyone think different? An interesting debate for sure.

First time I’ve seen this . Bamba passes it back to the keeper which is going over his head. So the keeper catches the ball. Indirect free kick. Huddersfield players asking for a red card as it’s stopped a definite goal but nothing extra given. I reckon they have a case

Please merge mods thanks

A back pass is a back pass IMO and if the keeper handles it it`s an indirect free kick. You could argue a lot of back passes would go in if the keeper didn`t handle them.

it would have been interesting to see what VAR would have made of it - they`d probably still be looking at it now!

Ha ha totally agree with the last part. You rarely see them handle back passes now probably more rarely than us getting a penalty. Was a strange one

Brilliant result for Huddersfield. They have been superb and fully deserve the win.

Superbly coached team, much more than the sum of their parts.

Finished 20th last season with the worst defensive record. Shows what can be done so don't despair folks.?

It's a technical offence and a goalkeeper cannot be sent off for handling the ball inside his own penalty area. So the ref was right as you say.

I’ve mentioned before, recruitment is strong.

Will be interesting to see how much their wage bill has grown this season.  Rhodes won’t have come cheap wage-wise (free transfer), plus Lees, Pearson, etc, plus the likes of Colwill on loan.

But you reap what you sew.  They bit the bullet first season down, getting rid of the high earners, for good fees, e.g. Karlan Grant, etc…basically laid the foundations for Corberan to come in and set the next part of the plan.

Still getting PPs helps too.

They didn’t panic last season, but we all saw the positive signs, even if you only watched the two games against us…they lost both, but they were all over us for 60-70% of both games.

The standard of officials in the Championship is at times laughable..........watching the LUTON V FOREST game on Quest, Forest should have had an equaliser, when the player was actually onside twice!!  Firstly when the linesman flagged, but the player was onside, and secondly when the referee wrongly interpreted the rules when the Luton defender   played the ball through to the attacker?  Then the referee compounds his first error by sending off the Luton captain, when the perceived foul was perpetrated on a player who was 2 yards offside......keep an eye out for the referee.... Mr JAMES LINIGTON, he is a clown who doesn't know the rules?   Ha!
