In addition the stand had an enclosure at the front and to make it from the seats onto the pitch there was a large partition that needed to be climbed over. 

When viewed with modern eyes it seems obvious the risk and it was one of the first of what seemed a string of disasters that occurred mid to late 80’s

Thanks mate, that's absolutely horrendous. Can only imagine the panic and fear those poor souls would've encountered. Horrible way to go.
