steveybadger
Didn’t see the game today but apart from free kicks Brennan was miles superior. IMHO.
Dynamite Red
Sorry to be a pedant but wasn't it Bell and Brennan? I'm sure we sold Barnard to Barnsley then recruited Bell under John Ward, Brennan then broke through under Benny after Ward was sacked. Either way I remember us having two superb left backs at the same time and we may be in that position 20 years on. I remember we had to play Jim RB and he was insanely good there as well - won a game against Blackpool single handed
LilRascal
We had so many good left backs back then, but only one left sided midfielder - think it was no coincidence that the left backs flourished when we had Tinnion on the pitch. The overlaps between whichever left back we had and Tinnion were a joy to watch. (And then the switch over to the right wing where Scott Murray would cut in and score). Ah - nostalgia! Yes that is right, I think Barnard and Bell may have even played a pre season friendly together?
2015
Left backs seem to be Bristol City's best position over the years: Scott, Barnard, Bell, Brennan, Bryan, Cunningham, Dasilva, Pring, now Roberts

LilRascal
Mickey Bell - not only did we get him cheap, but we also got his son 20 years later - great deal from Wycombe!

Danny Coles and Butler took credit in 03/04 for our defensive performance but Hill was exceptional defensively Edited August 10, 2023 by Fred89 Grammar, fact check

Had he been taller he would have been made a top top centre half.

Although he played for Canada he was really Irish and he came to a St Patrick’s Night gig my band played at the Bristol Bridge Inn. He certainly knew his Irish music…

Great player for us wish he was apart of things when GJ took over, but I feel he was allowed to leave because we preferred Woodman and Goulbourne as wing backs. Big mistake IMO
