Leveller
A terrible miss but the theory is fine. Surprised it’s not done more often.

The only relevant rules are: - The ball must move forward - The other player must start outside the box Totally legal - poorly executed

Leveller
Much better, surely, to pass diagonally forward to the right, then shoot diagonally to the left, as the keeper will probably have moved to the right.
Lavington Robin
There’s been a few well known examples over the years not least Messi, Suarez, Neymar Cruyff & Henry.

At least 9 out of ten are not valid goals because the non penalty takers had encroached into the penalty area before the initial kick was made. Very surprised that the referees allowed them.

Lorenzos Only Goal
In theory it's pointless as the outfield player has to A) get there before any opposition players. And B) the ball is closer to the keeper. Which means once the element of suprise is gone there is less chance to score than had the penalty taker taken it properly. Looks good when it works though. The only real advantage is the striker in theory would have the keeper out of the way to tap into an empty net - though as this video shows that doesn't always go to plan

I would argue that it’s no more likely to backfire than a straightforward penalty. The element of surprise is the biggest advantage though. The defenders tend to switch off.
