Do we reckon we’ll be able to get in any pubs if we get there early enough? Or is it not worth the risk and better to drink around TM and get later train.

Absolutely no chance of being given a pub, the same as last year.

You might be lucky if you break away from the loose escort and find a very random pub that will let you in.

We’re looking to arrive in Cardiff about 11:30 surely they won’t send us straight to ground then 🤣

When I asked I was told they will be opening the ground early, for us , so ......

Jerry was going to try and find out if any pubs will be open, but I've not heard back yet.

Wouldn't worry too much about which specific train to book for the way back, you’ll be shoved on the first available train back.

That's my overriding memory of Cardiff away to be fair ... unfortunately this time i'm trying to make plans afterwards with no idea what time i'll be home

How long does it normally take us to get from the ground to the station post match?

Is the 18:00 home a possibility?

Give yourself an hour……also as long as you don’t arrive en mass you should be fine to arrive at central and winder off to a pub. Just don’t do what swansea fans do, ie start singing and acting like dicks……you’ll be fine.

You will be suprised mate.

They will escort straight to the ground, probably taking an hour at snails pace. By that time the ground will be open. Well that's most like their plan.

Hmmm there’s 3 blokes and two kids in our group. No colours reckon we could sneak free

Wanna get the kids some food. Might just go knights at temple meads then jump on a later train

I hope you can mate. You could hang back and wait for the majority to leave the station and try and just mingle out on your own. Probably less likely to worry about you if you have kids with you.

Only time I’ve been to Cardiff (a) was the bubble match on an evening in the 15/16 season.

As this is a 3pm Saturday game, what is there around the ground, other than food stall type stuff?  Not looking for a pint, just prefer different food.

If I get to Cardiff early, is heading down to Cardiff Bay first an option?

If there’s a will there’s a way , I pride myself on getting away from escorts at away games , much older now so don’t do so many but when a young un always got away and ended up in random pubs .

As for Cardiff ( the time the young uns smoked out the Great western pub ) old bill had all the city fans kettled outside after 10 mins of realising the pub weren’t gonna sell any more beer and the old bill starting to gather round in large numbers I knew what was coming so a little manoeuvre between the police lines I was off like a slippery snake straight into the prince of wales just round the back of the great western had to keep me head down and say very little as lots of blue birds in there , saying that around the centre nowadays is deemed pretty safe cctv lots of Cardiff banned , there nastys tend to drink in the canton area ( our equivalent of Bemmy )

so basically keep your head down don’t get into a mob no colours no singing and shouting and you should be able to sneak off somewhere

If you can leave via the front of the station there is a Greggs directly opposite. Usually my first stop for a coffee and bacon roll before wandering to the ground.

Bay is close, a few mins in an Uber even if you want to leave your car down there. Alternatively park up in Park place nr the uni and check out a few bars that side of the city, it’s full of English students so you won’t draw any attention at all. Quite like the pen and wig, decent grub, TVs, nice beer garden and 5 mins in a cab through town to the stadium…..

Summed up well…..I’d avoid cardiff central if you can, but if not just don’t act up and you’ll be fine…..avoid canton but you’ll find pontcanna (cathedral rd area) nearby fine with lots of family or normal fan types there pre match. 10/15 min walk to stadium just be mindful walking through canton. The days of mobs of cardiff fans on the look out are long gone just like in Bristol, think like that and you’ll be fine folks
