FRIENDLY GAMES

Would anyone know where I might find a list of friendly games City have played since the Second World War?

I have found several sites with league and cup records but they don’t seem to include friendly games played before or during the season.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks.

Similarly I tried to find records of Gloucester cup finals of years gone by but nothing much online. I have a copy of Woods’ book, may have to dig it out.

Bristol City a complete record 1894-1987 is a start. Author David M Woods

Friendlies also recorded in David Woods book The Bristol Babe - The first 200 years in 1994.

Sorry for misprint in last sentence. 100 years only.

That’s a great find, you couldn’t find one for friendly’s now could you?

There are sites that show all City results back to 1898, but based on league and cups.

An example https://www.worldfootball.net/teams/bristol-city/1962/3/

Someone may be able to find historical friendlies somewhere..

Doubt there's anything on line that covers friendlies.

Was there a game in particular you were looking for?

The only place I can see is David Woods Bristol City a complete Record.

Only up to 1987 though.

Kind of you to offer, looking at an old programme the fixture list shows friendly games as well as league and cup, so I think I may have answered my own question😃

Does that book include attendance records?

I found a programme and annoyingly the older programmes didn’t give the year only the day and date, as above I’ve found the year and score, but not the attendance.

The game was against a German club called SINGEN FC, and I had never heard of them.

I`m sure David did a follow up edition that carried on a lot further than 1987. All the match stats contained a little two or three line summary of the game, what the weather was like and such.

The later book is a different format ,doesn't seem to have the friendlies.

Fantastic.

The programme I have is for a home game played on 12/11/57 (I think), score was 4-2 to City.

I thought we had a tie up with Hannover(?), never heard of SINGEN.

Hannover 96.

Much later than 1957, was in the late 60s.

I do remember a game with Hannover 96, my dad took me to the match. But I don't remember it at all let alone the score !

Would be very surprised if it was Fred Ford who scored for us, then again it was a friendly.
