Bristol Post are reporting that it will be at Aldershot. It would make sense for Aldershot to want a home friendly. https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/bristol-city-josh-stokes-transfer-9049939?int_source=mantis_rec&int_medium=web&int_campaign=more_like_this

harvey54
Good ground. Locals can be a bit hostile. They have a lot of old Chelsea boys that follow both teams and fancy themselves. Should be lively 3

Thats what the locals always said about Bristol City coming. “Hostile and Fancy Themselves” Im not sure how much of a barracks town Aldershot still is but in the 80s90s that was the game the nutters looked for after Reading. One year I went and got in for nothing because the fence collapsed under the weight. One of my fave days there was Brighton in the FA Cup. Spoons was heaving and two local coppers came in giving it large. They all started singing who let the pigs out even the gendarmes were laughing. Walk to the ground an hour or so later was pretty lively too .

It's not about growing out of it so much as they fact that they would probably put their shoulder out trying to throw a punch...........and if the painkillers required for that don't go with their current meds it could cause all sorts of bother and carnage with a right sort out required at the Doctor's Surgery, could get hostile. I wonder if the Aldershot lads are "coming out of retirement" for this massive pre-season friendly?

Well I certainly won’t be coming out of retirement for it , much rather sit down and have a pint and talk football with the chaps you use to chase round town centres many years ago ,

Never to the dark side Posted Saturday at 05:17 Report Share Posted Saturday at 05:17 Would never put any one off traveling by public transport to any match. But,Aldershot is a messy place to get too by train, not to mention the return journey, might not have been too bad if it was a Saturday 3pm kick off. You are better off getting changing at Reading and then getting a train to Ash (on the Guildford line). From Ash it's just over 2 miles to walk or 10 mins in a Taxi. A 7:45 mid-week is not ideal for most, but selfishly I will for once be home before midnight. Unlike, when the normal season returns... I'm genuinely sick of going up and down the M4. The things we do for our club. Edited Saturday at 12:40 by Sandhurst Red

Being a bloke with 35 years and a wedding in Guildford on my cv (and a brother that lives in Ash) this is the way I would do it from Brizz I’m not sure how pedestrian friendly the walk is above The Blacwater valley relief road. So take a taxi! if there is a few of you an Uber from reading could be an option Edited Saturday at 14:27 by REDOXO
Oh Louie louie Posted Saturday at 14:43 Report Share Posted Saturday at 14:43 There was a chant in the 80s your so hard you ran from Aldershot, they had one fan in skinhead clobber who was in the away end at that semi final, and b block made his Life a misery with songs, he ended up getting arrested
