Stylus Posted August 19, 2004 Posted August 19, 2004 How does Visiting the Offical Site help the club finacially? How much do we actually benifit from it?? Is it micro-pennies or what??
Guest Neo Posted August 19, 2004 Posted August 19, 2004 I wish I could help you master, but I can't I have a new ranking though
Guest DrFaustus Posted August 19, 2004 Posted August 19, 2004 I wish I could help you master, but I can't I have a new ranking though ← And a very bald head. Oops...wrong forum
Stylus Posted August 19, 2004 Author Posted August 19, 2004 I wish I could help you master, but I can't I have a new ranking though ← Cheers Tom. Neo on your minion contract swore too never tell anyone of your real job but now it's out in the open i better explain.... Neo is my servent/body-gaurd. He makes good food and cleans my mansion in a maid's uniform. I don't aprove but what-ever he feels comfortable in. His rates are good and in his spare he is either on here/subcider or watching t.v on his chipped box Neo, i fancy a full english with all the Trimmings!! Get going!!
Guest jamiebrisc Posted August 19, 2004 Posted August 19, 2004 pop up boxes I think! the club gets so much from each time someone clicks on one of those little boxes to see the 'great offers' which they have. Also I guess they get money for the banners which are on there for mobile phones and sky etc. The amount seems quite small don't know how much exactly but if enough people click on them then it can mount up So get clicking for your club!!
Robbored Posted August 19, 2004 Posted August 19, 2004 Its not so much penny per click or anything like that. I think how it works is PTV have a pool of money and the higher percentage of traffic visiting the club site results in a higher % of the pool. The forum doesn't bring any revenue in, but to give you an idea of the traffic to the forum: Month ---Request(Hits) Mar 2004: 6186376: Apr 2004: 6994670: May 2004: 10671340: Jun 2004: 9364229: Jul 2004: 9739230: Aug 2004: 5791080: I should imagine the main site gets 20-30% more than that at least ← Does it though?.I reckon regular forum users visit the main site much less frequently than the Forum. If, like me you have link directly to the forum and therby by-passing the main site then it could mean that the forum gets more hits than the main site. I'm aware that not only forum users visit the main site but well over 50M forum hits each month seems an extrodinary high figure many of which could by-pass the main site.

Riaz Posted August 19, 2004 Posted August 19, 2004 why dosent someone ask ColinS, SteveL or even AdamB???
Guest Neo Posted August 19, 2004 Posted August 19, 2004 watching t.v on his chipped box ← Not just a God, but, a very good memory I see

Admin Ian M Posted August 19, 2004 Admin Posted August 19, 2004 Just to stop a bit of confusion that 5m is the 'Requests' (so if you look at 10 topics that'll equal 10 requests!) The actual visitors per month is about: Mar 2004: 868,443 Apr 2004: 981,572 May 2004: 1,444,268 Jun 2004: 1,201,488 Jul 2004: 956,822 Aug 2004: 673,187 (up to yesterday, so expect around 900k-1m end of month) Which from speaking to Adam is on a comparitable level with what the main bcfc.co.uk gets. ← I know we may prefer the forum without advertising, but with visitor figures such as these could it be worth investigating offering say a banner across the top of each page (above the "Forum Portal.......Help Search Members Calender Live Chat" part) to various companies as advertising space? Obviously we don't want to go down the pop-up route but I'd have thought, given the opportunity to reach that many visitors per month, a couple of companies would jump at the chance whilst not being obtrusive enough to put people off visiting. (I'm certain that pop-up ads actually alienate people against a company rather than getting them to buy their product. We could even set up our own affiliate scheme? It's not like the club is raking in money hand over fist so any avenue to bring in extra revenue should be explored surely?

This could be changed on a regular basis to worthwhile local charities. Any thoughts anyone? Additionally I have not been able to access bcfc.co.uk for ages. It tells me I have to re register, I do and it tells me my name has already been taken!! I try to choose another and it won't let me. So this is one former regular user who hasnt been on since at least May.

Tom, you might need that server upgrade sooner than you think!

Care to comment on my suggestions in stead of taking the mick (which I can take).

It depends how charitable our board feel in the face of 7 figure losses.

Admin Ian M Posted August 20, 2004 Admin Posted August 20, 2004 No problem, perhaps if I could get the advert for childline sponsored by a firm of solicitors who would pay the cost of the advertising slot? ← Sounds like the ideal compromise Do we know if the club would be open to such suggestions though?
Stoke_Gifford_Red Posted August 20, 2004 Posted August 20, 2004 I think TomF has said before trhis isn't possible, when I suggested adverts/affiliate scheme, as the agreement with Premium TV dictates no money can be made from non-Premium TV official forums. There is already an affiliate scheme on the official site, and several big high-street shops, and most big online shops are covered.
cheshire_red Posted August 20, 2004 Posted August 20, 2004 can't give up at the first hurdle, will write to those concerned, anybody want to add their support?
Stoke_Gifford_Red Posted August 20, 2004 Posted August 20, 2004 I will add support, but I don't think you will get very far.
Stoke_Gifford_Red Posted August 20, 2004 Posted August 20, 2004 I also click on the adverts at times, as they can quickly be closed down, and sometimes there are things that I find useful (at the moment there is a competition to win the Mercury Prize Albums).
cheshire_red Posted August 20, 2004 Posted August 20, 2004 I will add support, but I don't think you will get very far. ← Thanks, leters (or emails) going off tomorrow.
