Reigate Red
Only a few weeks ago their fans must have been dreaming about their two Wembley appearances in two weeks. Got to feel for them now though having lost on penalties to Bromley in the National League play off final last week and now Gateshead in the FA Trophy final today. I'd think it's a big job picking them up from this for next season.
Admin phantom Posted May 11 Admin Report Share Posted May 11 To think Gateshead only beat Weston in a penalty shootout in an earlier round I guess when your name is in the trophy
RedM
I saw them at Wembley last week (as a neutral) and really hoped they would go on and at least win something today. However you got to credit Gateshead who had to forfeit their place in the playoffs due to their ground not being up to standard or not being able to prove they could secure a long enough lease or something. Their win today was at least some consolation.

The bitter pill being their ground is owned by Gateshead Council - the ground meets the standard - but Gateshead Council are in the process of appointing a "Partner Operator" to manage all their leisure facilities including the football ground. IE they're outsourcing and they won't give the FC a 10 year tenure ( required by the EFL) because they want to give the "Partner" the opportunity of a break clause to renegotiate the terms. What happened to the council working for the community and supporting a club on the up, giving pleasure to the fans, and raising the profile of the town! It would seem the needs (££) of the "Partner " trumps all that. 7
