Therefore, I agree. The comment though was just about Sykes and Yu. How so? A slightly flippant comment but Yu and Sykes switching wings doesn't seem a recipe for success if I'm being sensible. Sykes for one doesn't seem that Profile of Player IMO. Edited September 2 by Mr Popodopolous

Total Football wouldn't discourage Yu and Sykes from being on the same side if play fell that way. swapping individuals from one side to another isn't total football. That's just an in game change.

I just think it’s hard to see what our plan is. If we set up with a three at the back, we don’t really have the right wingbacks and would struggle to fit in Yu. If we go four at the back, it’s hard to fit in all of the attacking talent brought in and to play them in the right positions. I can only assume LM has bought players to be able to play in two different formations, switching between the two as necessary. But we’ve not seen that yet, five games in, and we’ve come up against teams who play very differently - Coventry and Millwall for example.

O'Leary Tanner Vyner Dickie Pring Bird Knight Yu/Sykes Twine Earthy? Fally/Armstrong In theory we are told that Earthy can play across the midfield, albeit he would need to show positional discipline for the sake of Pring and our left side. I suppose he could switch in-game with Twine now and then with positional discipline being key. Williams first reserve for Knight, take your pick in some other areas. If Earthy can play along or across the midfield he could even drop into a 3 with Bird and Knight in out of Possession phases and Yu and Twine wider and hold their position. Likewise Earthy coild go left, Twine central and Yu right, Sykes should be right or not at all.
WECANDO
Dickie out for 2 months replaced by McNally. How about that new midfielder from Oxford. You could state Pring/Roberts.

IG saying Earthy is out for 5-6 weeks.

Slippin cider
International break after only a couple of weeks of the season is a joke! How on earth do they expect any cohesion with this going on?

How on earth do they expect any cohesion with this going on? It's been the case ever since I can remember. Same for all sides. September International break since I started following late 1990s, literally nothing new albeit modernish Football. One difference is that we were in the 3rd Tier so generally weren't affected so much. Championship or in general 2nd Tier used to play on this weekend until 2004 or maybe a bit before but so many International or U21 call-ups that most games would be postponed these days- I assume that is the reason why.
