Never to the dark side
England interim manager Lee Carsley will not sing the national anthem, Don't blame him after playing 40 times for the Republic of Ireland, would any of us, if roles were reversed? Might take a bit of pressure off Jack Grealish(squad number 18) and Declan Rice(squad number 4) Glad to see our Prime minister will be representing the Country at the match. The current Ireland manager was the manager in charge of Iceland when England were beaten way back in 2016 Edited September 7 by Never to the dark side

The current Ireland manager was the manager in charge of Iceland when England were beaten way back in 2016 Apparently Carsley has never sung at any stage as player or coach . Guess no one cared when he was the under 21 coach ? No different to some of the players past and present then as you say.

TV Tom
Plenty of England players in the past never sung the anthem particularly Mancs and Scousers, plenty of people don’t believe in a god and plenty of people don’t believe in a monarchy so why would they sing god save the Queen/King ? 7
And Its Smith
I wouldn’t sing it either. Don’t believe in god and don’t believe there should be a king. Would be weird to sing it with those views. As a comparison, I had in mind Steve Cooper, someone who I am not particularly fond of as a man - I mean, I have never actually met him, but I find his pitch side antics and general behaviour totally unacceptable - but someone who plays young players, plays a nice style of football and, of course, was able to use his U17 knowledge to bring in some useful loans. I was thinking that, if we were able to sign LC, his similar credentials, at an even higher level, would have been an excellent choice. Can't knock him to be honest, a very limited footballer to be fair, just shows where a bit of talent and aggression got you in the game back then..
