Wells remains our best striker, Armstrong should play in Semenyo role

Don’t think you can say that YET. A common issue on here is we judge a player and condemn him on what he produces today. Look at Semenyo when he was 20 “league 2 AT BEST” was the rallying cry on here. Even when Nige first joined the joke was “he only scores when he charges down the keeper”, now look at him. 20 year old lads are generally better players at 22.

Armstrong has a lot of things going for him bar the obvious one right now. That’s the gamble the club took.

His Finshing will never be there.

What is it about the lad that enables such a final expert opinion from yourself? What is the issue with him that has convinced you this 20 year old kid will DEFINITELY not improve his finishing…..ever? What is the obvious difference between him and Semenyo who was labelled “league 2 at best” by more experts on here at the same or similar age?

Obviously he doesn't get that one on one because we would be playing differently. No one in their right mind plays a pass like that into the channel for Wells.

That was my point really. With Sincs we can play a 20 yard pass into his path between the full back and centre back and he can make a chance of it. With Wells we need to be more precise and be in and around the box to create a chance.

We'll get more chances with Sincs in the team, but he's making half of his own himself.

The same was said about Semenyo……..……..:cool2:

Let see if Manning and his coaches can work with him on his finishing. As with Semenyo the pace and build is there and it took him pretty much an entire season for AS to PL quality.

That is the key, when Armstrong is up top we create, when he isn’t we don’t appear to create as much. His movement is actually very good which is a must in a possession based style of playing.

He is 21 for a start! 60  appearances for QPR just 3 goals.Semenyo was under the tutalage of Nigel Pearson someone who knows more about football than most.He played alongside wieman and chris martin and the W-S-M were described by Wayne Rooney as the best strike force in the championship, this was echoed by other people including neil warnock.since going to Bournemouth they have improved him even more. There is now talk he is being eyed up by top 6 premier sides.

Sinclair has had 6 one on ones this year and fluffed everyone  of them.He has scored 2 goals and been given a lot of game time.Fally has scored 2 goals and been given probably a quarter of sinclairs game time.Everything about our club just seems to be,lets give it time.Lansdown has had 20 years, its 44 yearrs since we were in the top flight,i am entitled to my opinion there is no way sinclair is going to develope in the same way as antoine.People were criticized on here for running down cornick, but from a footballing point of view they were right.Lets hope i am proved wrong, but i doubt it.

Thought the front 4 worked pretty well today. Have generally found Mehmeti unconvincing and whilst there were things he could have done better, offered significant threat. In many ways Armstrong feels like the ideal lone striker, able to make runs and drag defenders around (and tire them through physicality). Thought our defending was more positive in terms of tactics/set up, just we had some send in the clowns moments from individuals - miss the experience and steadying influence of Dickie.

I think our Japanese wizard is critical to Armstrong. Once he realises that the ball will be crossed early from the bye line and they get some sort of understanding the goals should come. It is so nice to see a player actually taking on the fullback and crossing
