Popular Post Jerseybean
We face Leeds United, with a 1230 kick off and it will be a near full house. Our head-to-head record is woeful, they have beaten us 27 times, with nine draws and just eight City victories. It’s on Sky. Over the last six games they are top of the form table with 14 points we are sixth with 10 points. Section 82 have organised a crowd funder as a tribute to Theo Manning, details here of how to pledge a donation: https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/football-united-a-tribute-to-theo-john-manning#start and here: https://www.otib.co.uk/topic/227345-leeds-united-h-a-tribute-to-theo-john-manning/#comment-4991998 for which your support is invited and will be greatly appreciated. This captures the intention: ‘In this time of profound grief, we want to show our love, support and solidarity. Therefore our aim is to create a visual tribute that captures the outpouring of love and condolence shared by City fans, and indeed the entire football community, in support of the Manning family during this unthinkably difficult time. We are therefore raising funds to create this display, whereby every contribution, no matter how small, will help us to honour Theo’s memory and hopefully provide some comfort to those who loved him dearly. Let’s stand together as a football community, showing our love and support for the Manning's. Your generosity will help us create a powerful moment of unity, reminding us all of the strength that comes from supporting one another in times of sorrow. From the funds raised, anything achieved above the required amount to facilitate the display. Will be donated to an appropriate charity, of the Manning's choosing. The £5k display target has been reached, and all fiscal costs of display materials covered. Absolutely amazing! To reiterate, all funds raised over and above the material costs will be donated to a charity (or charities) of the Manning family's choice, at the earliest suitable opportunity. So please continue to give generously, if you can afford to do so. Thank you in advance for your support. Leeds' first club were successful but were found to be paying their players during the war, which was illegal at the time. So, the Leeds we know today were founded in October 1919 by Dick Ray. On Tuesday night, while we faced Stoke, they were at home to Watford, it finished 2-1 (Leeds were 2 up after 7 minutes) which put them on 22 points from 11 games, currently they are third. We will be without Joe Williams who is suspended. Junior Firpo will be absent too having collected his fifth yellow card of the campaign against Watford. Largie Ramazani is likely to be out, the winger hobbled out the match with Watford after opening the scoring for the hosts at Elland Road, and is a major doubt, https://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/sport/football/leeds-united/leeds-united-manager-shares-details-of-largie-ramazani-injury-as-bristol-city-appearance-in-doubt-4836185 Leeds boss Daniel Farke is already without Ethan Ampadu, Ilia Gruev and Max Wober for the game, leaving the Whites' small squad short on senior names. cidered abroad
Thanks Jerseybean. Its a bit unclear but I think the second programme is the one from September 1955 the season after our winning of Div 3 South with a record number of points. I remember it very clearly. A big crowd over 30,000 and a City team who had started the season so well. The result was a 0-1 defeat which seems to be a regular loss since then. The major reason I remember it was that Leeds had at centre half, the very great Welsh international John Charles. That day he was at centre half but also was real quality at centre forward. He snuffed out Atyeo and Jimmy Rogers who had scored 53 goals in the previous season. Charles moved to Italy and became a legend for Juventus at a time when players rarely moved abroad. At the end of his life he was visiting Turin when he became very ill. Juventus hired a hospital plane to take him home to Leeds where he died a short time after, because he was such a well thought of former player. I rate as one of the greatest players that I have seen playing live and that includes Matthew’s, Best, Di Stefano, Eusebio and Puskas. ashton_fan
I think we've got a better chance in this one than we've had for a while although it will be a difficult match for sure. They've lost some key players from last season and have a few injuries (as do our squad), but if we can continue to create chances like we have in the last few games we must be in with a shout, their fans are not particularly happy with their keeper Meslier and he has looked a bit shaky in Leeds matches I've watched on Sky, perhaps Nahki can get one of his scoring streaks going! Jerseybean
The club will remember at Saturday’s game against Leeds United the service and sacrifice of all those that have defended our freedoms and protected our way of life. The players from both teams will come out of the tunnel earlier than normal ahead of kick-off for a small ceremony and period of silenced observed. Please note that a minutes applause in memory of Theo John Manning will follow the remembrance ceremony. We kindly ask that you take your seats by 12:15pm. 1
TDarwall
For me the overwhelming positive is that we come in to this game on the back of 4 points in a week when many thought we'd get nil. Doesn't make it a free hit, but at least there isn't huge pressure to get a result. Dress it up however we like, the reality is that the Leeds 1st 11 & wider squad is man for man better than ours. We could play really well tomorrow & still get beat. To end 3 games in a week with an early KO v Leeds is tough; they normally out run / over power us. I wouldn't be disappointed if Hogg shakes things up a bit to get fresh legs, & if he does this & we lose, I won't hold it against him. I'd be more frustrated if a virtually unchanged 11 puts in a leggy performance I think. Could 4-2-3-1 become 4-3-2-1 tomorrow with McGuarn coming in to bolster midfield? Not expecting much, & would be overjoyed with a point & a decent performance.

I’d be selling it as “6 unbeaten, couple of great results in the last 7 days against tough opposition, in tough circumstances, go out there are extend it to 7”. The result will be whatever it will be, but Leeds have dropped points in 45% of games this season. Edited October 25 by Davefevs

1960maaan
As usual I look forward to an hour before kick off, one because I will be in the Pub but two to see the team sheet. Usually an interesting option or two, this time it's mainly what happens with Williams absence . Will we shuffle those involved at Stoke , or will McGuane get a long awaited run . Of course there could be a surprise , but I doubt it . Wells must surely start , unless he is deemed tired (which I doubt) . Leeds FB's seem to like to get forward , maybe swap Mehmeti for Yu and use his pace in behind . What I do know is, the Pub opens at 10am and they should have City Poppy badges. Everything else is a mystery . Would be nice to beat them for a change though.

REDOXO
A free hit! Who keeps saying that! They didn’t get promoted last season and are not in the top two at the moment. City as will be pointed out relentlessly by some podcasters and the odd journo are on a decent unbeaten run and have started taking chances. On top of that are now playing (it seems largely due to Mr Hogg) front foot attacking football. We could have had eight at Stoke. I expect us to at least pick something up IF we don’t start either half with our effing slippers on. As seems the norm!

PHILINFRANCE
@pongo88, @Jerseybean Thank you to the late Beryl Fudge for organising my Supporters Club coach ticket and, of course, my match ticket. It was a truly memorable day for so many reasons, not least the approach to Elland Road, seeing the washing lines (with washing hanging on them!) from the windows of our coach as we drove underneath, and the ‘warm’ welcome of both young kids and grown men spitting and throwing stones at the coach windows as we arrived to park close (not close enough!) to the ground, luckily no bricks, as this was ‘only’ Leeds, not Millwall. Cheering like an idiot when we scored, and then running the gauntlet back to the coach at the end of the match. Oh, and resigning myself to an inevitable detention for missing school. It was all worth it though. Oh Yes, and remembering the late Bill Shankly’s comments on the previous Saturday’s MotD, about how a Leeds vs Liverpool match in the next round would be a cracker. If we're going to get a result we'll need to defend as a team and take the chances that come our way. Leeds I think are very quick in the press and likely to have a lot of pressure. Sykes and Yu may both start.
Offside
Difficult game against a good side, and it’s going to be an emotional experience too with it being the first home game since the recent tragedy for LM and his family. Hopefully the players will be fired up and we’ll see a performance like those against Leicester and Southampton last season. We are due a result against Leeds. Terry Cooper, Norman Hunter , Joe Jordan, Bob Taylor, Jimmy Mann to name but a few who have contributed massively to our club having passed by dirty Leeds. Rennie could play a bit, too, and was a key part of my all time favourite City side under Joe Jordan.

Roadrunner
Largie Ramazani out injured for them. As we seem to play better against the better teams. A sold out Gate and the feelings around the club this last week. I am going for a 1-1 draw.
City oz
betting odds most favorable are City 1 Leeds 2. However, they said the exact same against Stoke. We will prove them wrong again and it will be a home win with a hard close contest with a resounding 3-2 home win.
Jerseybean
11 hours ago, PHILINFRANCE said: @pongo88, @Jerseybean Thank you to the late Beryl Fudge for organising my Supporters Club coach ticket and, of course, my match ticket. Truly memorable. Think I was 17 and was certainly there on my own, when we scored I went totally wild only to then realise that nobody anywhere near me was celebrating, yep there I was ‘exposed’ in the middle of thousands of LUFC fans in the 70’s when things were very different than they are today

EstoniaTallinnRed
Hello all! Don't like these 12.30 ko's, although it's at 14.30 here. if the team that did well in the end at Stoke turns up and the sell out crowd gets behind them, I don't see any reason why we can't win. Mind you that's thinking with my heart, my mind says a draw would be a good result, anyway as long as we play well and don't look as if we are frightened of them, then I don't mind if we lose by a goal. Hope is a good win, so COYR's.
HOZDA
McGuane starts. Would have liked Earthy to start too but I'm sure he will come on later. Tough fixture, as always, but I'm confident in the boys. Emotional day. Coyr

I would have missed 2 days school then as I went up to Liverpool the day before to stay with my brother before heading to Leeds from there. Bazooka Joe
McGuane will need to be at his very best today, and hopefully that will be good enough. Same applies to every other City player.
mozo
I think McGuane makes sense as the deep lying CM. It's just a shame he doesn't have more minutes in his legs. He might be the 60 minute sub.
