Never to the dark side
a good following, just wish the EFL could schedule long distance games(Sunderland this season) for a weekend game
Silvio Dante
I might be wrong, but I’m sure that there is a bit of clubs choice that goes into having longer distance games on weekdays. Lower level I think it’s about not having to pay for overnight stays, but it’s also around from the home teams perspective they will get bigger attendances for more local games on the weekend. 2 2

cidercity1987
Poor away attendance, I don't think the majority of City fans realise how easy it is to get to Stoke. Closer than Plymouth

YorkshireSection
Genuine question; as someone who lives in Leeds, is Leeds away looked at as a seriously long away trip (it’s very hard to fathom when you live here (yes I realise we’re at home tomorrow), thanks. Never to the dark side
Leeds is 3 and half hours by train which I always use,but if you drive that M42 area is always a bit of a pig.

If there were 4 more clubs between us and Plymouth no one would consider it any kind of derby. In reality it’s quite a distance although I reckon easier to get to than Stoke away on a Tuesday evening. 5 hours ago, 77 punk said: tonight sheff weds took over 2000 to portsmouth ,amazing support Huge club to be fair. Like Leeds, Sunderland and few others they seem to have decent numbers of fans living all around the country as well which helps.

They then had to watch their team lose 4-0 to us.

Closer than Plymouth I used to have to travel to Macclesfield far too often. Passing stoke along the way. This stat blew my mind. So you can imagine my disappointment when I found out you lied by like 5-7 miles Stadium to stadium - Plymouth is 8 miles closer City centre to city centre it's like 7 I'm not angry , I'm just rather somewhat disappointed. I was looking forward to using that stat forever more.

Second half the wind was ridiculous & it sleeted. The 4-0 defeat was when they were hit by an illness bug & tried to get it postponed, Bobby Reid got 2 or 3? Don’t recall any weather issues that day? Could be wrong of course.

Nogbad the Bad
The 0-4 debacle at Stoke in May would have been fresh in the minds of many regular away followers. Only 5 away games between the 2 visits - no wins, 3 losses including comprehensive defeats at Derby and Blackburn. Not surprising many may have decided to give a return visit so soon a miss.

Also wasn't pay on the night, may have put a few last minute travellers off - certainly put me off as I didn't know if I'd get back from work in time and I'm closer to Stoke

If the 1-1 draw was in the early 90s I remember it well as I was in the Open End freezing my nuts off. I’ve never been so cold since. The 4-0 game in 2018, you’re right, Bobby Reid got a hat trick. Regarding disrupted travel, thinking back I think it was just general advice to not take to the roads unless necessary although by the Saturday morning all the snow that had been dumped on the U.K. 2 days prior (‘beast from the east) was starting to turn to slush and thaw. Loads of games were called off that day and ours was only confirmed as going ahead on the Friday. Great game from our point of view. I was impressed with Wednesdays support that day especially the guy stood in the away end without his shirt on when everyone else was wrapped up

It wasn`t passable till a local farmer cleared it with his tractor on the Sunday.

I can still hear the chant of: ’One bed and breakfast, there’s only one bed and breakfast’. Edited October 26 by PHILINFRANCE
