Worst atmosphere I can remember for a long time

Like a friendly and can hear what the players are saying throughout most of the game.

Early kick off never great for atmosphere but given our form, opponents and where we are in the table it’s awful.

Hoping for a much better second half as we’re well in this.

COYR, let’s get at them!

Thought the crowd got going a bit after Burnley scored some encouragement and again after about an hour for a while- we put some decent pressure on and the two fed off each other

First Half was pretty poor though.

Midtable and not won any of the last 5 home games?

Let's be honest - this mixed in with Burnley at home is hardly one to stir up an atmosphere is it 😅

The Saturday and Sunday lunchtime kickoffs are terrible for the atmosphere. I wish they'd put them on Friday nights instead. They'd probably get better games, better atmospheres, bigger crowds and greater TV viewing figures.

Completely agree.  Doesn’t fit with the Sky overlords though unfortunately.

I’d rather they didn’t!
5pm KO on a Saturday would be better if not 3pm

Another way of looking at it though is Burnley are one of the favourites for Promotion so the crowd getting into it is quite important and the team being in the mix for the Play-offs given all the injuries perhaps merits a bit more.

Last 20 the atmosphere was good.

Burnley and ref (who I thought was very poor today) don’t help….stop, start, waste time, stop, stop, cramp, etc.

That definitely played a part, had we scored first it would've been a  much better spectacle likewise has we scored say 75-80 mins when we were building up or trying to build up a bit of momentum.

Maybe we'd have won had we equalised in that particular period, Burnley were perhaps a bit stretched given the slowing up, the fouls being resorted to etc.

They're not half as good or definitely not watchable as their Kompany side 2 years ago yet a very solid defence can take a side far.

I don't go that often but atmosphere seemed OK. I was sat near half way line. Burnley were loud at times and S82 had some decent songs. 2nd half, more of the crowd got behind the team after we'd made the 3 subs and we started putting pressure on.

Bear in mind the dreary weather conditions, swirling rain and grey skies very few fans would have felt energetic. Add to that City were being outplayed………..:dunno:

Don’t blame the weather etc, that is bollox. The ground is a sterile place for football and has been since it was redeveloped. All been said on here several times. Quite frankly the atmosphere is pretty much awful most home games nowadays. As a City fan, it’s been pretty boring for a number of years also, so plenty more yawning to come until the Lansdowns go. Just no passion at the club nowadays.

Most 12.30 games have very poor atmospheres.

200800 official attendance including SC sales whether the holder was there or not.

Had the gams a 3pm ko and not been live on Sky there’d probably be another 3 or 4K more.

Have to say given the £15 tickets and us being in and around the Play-off race on one hand the attendance wasn't great otoh it is much higher than pre redevelopment often so Idk really.

I also fully get the Weather, Sky and expressly this TV deal factors, 4 12.30pm Home kick-offs by mid December as it will be, that's shite.

Very subdued, I was on half way line in the Dolman, first time there was any noise was when Twine came on

I admire anyone who made the effort to get to AG and then back home in that horrible weather....can't blame them if they felt like being a bit quiet.

That's funny

It was just swirling wind and rain, nothing dramatic

I saw you pre-game (least I think it was you) struggling to get your bar code scanned.  I’d have said hi, but it took me several attempts to get mine to work too, and you’d gone by then!

Possibly, I am so bad at getting through

I will make the effort to come and say hello to you and your son one day

As they were discussing on radio the other day, all the best games in memory, no matter your team... none of them kick off at 12.30!!

Crystal Palace Away Play Off Semi Final was a lunch time kick off

Anyway, the atmosphere's been pretty poor all season. I've said it a few times, Derby away was good for about 15 minutes, Blackburn was dire the entire game, Sheff Utd was ok once we scored - I sat in the unreserved area in the corner and it was just loads of kids, half of them fighting with each, paying no attention to the game at all.

Slightly different circumstances dont you think, plus Noble scoring my favourite ever City goal!

**** off. Outplayed? We deserved at least a point. Not a chance we were out played.

They were better than us particularly defensively. They’ve only conceded 6 goals all season and restricted City to zero shots on target unless you consider Yu fluffing the one chance City had.

They adopted Warnock like tactics - feigning injury and time wasting. Have you ever seen a goalkeeper suffer from cramp before?……….jeez…..….:disapointed2se: Gamesmanship of the highest order.

Burnley did a job on us - end of.

The new AG isn’t great, far more enjoyable going away. If only we could redevelop the awful Atyeo stand.

I think that's also the kind of situation where the onus becomes on the fans

Boo those decisions, give the red some shit. Be vocal.

I fully accept it's a two way street and there are times where the team need to give fans something to cheer, but there are also times the fans need to lift the team.

Yeah ref a total useless one. And Burnley's tactics seconds half particularly later on. I was disappointed in them today mind gonna be difficult to beat

What do we think to the attendance(s) too? Tickets sold I mean.

Last two Home Games vs Parachure Clubs where you need that support perhaps more than the average Championship side.

Attendance

18,736 v Sheffield United (1k away fans)

20,800 v Burnley (1.4k away fans)...

...However vs Burnley we had the £15 Member ticket iirc.

Your numbers suggest that when Sky comes to town, non season ticket sales are down.

And we all know footfall is down, which means sales of other stuff will be down too.

I think the financial side of the tv deal might not be as advantageous as the £signs looked initially come the end of the day.

I suspect season card sales will be down this summer now fans have seen the impact of revised kick off times. Unless the club get imaginative in the offerings.

I would add the only time they outplayed us was the 10 minutes spell at the start of the second half, where their number 11 was creating mayhem in front of the Dolman Stand

Other than that we were well in the game, competitive and unlikely to concede

Their previous record for conceding has no relevance on then outplaying us and the dark arts of time wasting tells you they wanted to take the sting out of the game as they recognised we were on top

As I walked back to the car I thought Burnley were far quicker with their passing which often left our players treading water and that the benefit of parachute payments was clear to see.

I suggested on here awhile ago that when players join any PL club that a clause is in place that reduces their wedge to the average wage in the Championship in the event of relegation.

Obviously that wouldn’t effect the PL big boys at all  but would effect the lower PL clubs and do away with the need of parachute payments.

Just did a quick google. The average PL player earns £60k a week and in the Championship it’s considerably less depending  on the particular clubs finances . An estimate is between £10 - £30k per week.

Agreed. The simplest test will be whether Losses from reduced Home and Away Attendances turn out to be less than the increase in T.V. money (£2-2.5m for a Championship iirc). That works for fhis season...

That is the bigger concern, Season Card Sales down- that is a guaranteed Revenue base plus the Club obviously need that passionate and loyal support money aside. It will be 5 Saturday midday kick-offs by mid December which isn't appealing.

4 by the stsrt if January speaks volumes. Matches from March are yet to be allocated to TV. (Hull, Norwich, Watford all theoretically 3pm on a Saturday).

Good Friday v Sunderland another at 3pm, dunno how they treat the last day but surely that isn't a 3pm on Saturday?

One of the better away atmospheres of the season so far last night. Crowd gave it a good go most of the game, even singing immediately after conceding to try and spur the team on.
