PHILINFRANCE Posted November 25 Posted November 25 I have just read the Bristol Live article again, and looked at his photograph closely. Unfortunately, I am pretty sure it is the same Richard B I used to know back in the 1970/80s. A right character, and Oh, I could tell you some stories. We had some laughs, socially in and around The Swan in Winterbourne and with City, both home and away. We used to share Hacker’s coach/minibus on away games, and we got in to some right scrapes - lots of laughs looking back, but we were all very lucky to get away with it (usually ). We hired a car to drive to Paisley (Glasgow) for the first leg of the Anglo Scottish Cup Final away to Saint Mirren, a Ford Granada estate, and spent hours in their Supporters Club bar after the game - free drinks all night from the wonderful Saint Mirren fans, and there is another story about the return leg at Ashton Gate. Anyway, feeling a bit peckish about our ‘session’ we went to a local chippie recommended to us by our new friends and enjoyed haggis and chips. Richard, in his wisdom, declared that he was fine to drive back to Bristol, and we, stupidly, trusted him. After an hour or so of speeding down the motorway, nature called, as one might expect after goodness knows how many pints and drams, so we stopped on the hard shoulder to relieve ourselves. Cue a mass of bodies on the inside lane and hard shoulder, as we poured out of the car on to an ice rink! How we got back safely, I will never know. Good Luck Richard with your recovery. 5 4 1 2 Quote

Do you know about his siblings for example is he the eldest ? From memory, and I haven’t seen Richard for at least twenty years, he has an older brother. As I mentioned in my post, though, I only knew him socially, from a pub in Winterbourne and from following City. 1 Quote

Dynamite Red Posted November 26 Posted November 26 (edited) Richard (aka Worm) is making slow but steady progress in an ICU in Dusseldorf. He does seem to be stabilising after very serious injuries but it is going to be slow progress and take time to fully ascertain the situation. His family are with him but as you can imagine flying back and forth to Germany is difficult, let alone the cost. We're all wishing him and his family our wishes and love, and I know City fans will be wishing him a speedy recovery. There is a Go Fund Me page, if anyone can spare a donation or contribution whatever size it would be hugely appreciated to help the family navigate this difficult time. https://www.gofundme.com/f/richard-bridgman Edited November 26 by Dynamite Red 2 1 Quote

I got it wrong mate, it's not night it just says fundraiser, it's on a Sunday so will probably be daytime as they have alot of events on Sundays at that pub, they are looking for donations for a raffle, they always manage to raise good donations for charities etc Quote
