headhunter Posted November 26 Posted November 26 Podcast recording live @ 9.00 Wednesday; on Spotify etc from lunchtime. City played outstandingly well in the first 45 without peppering Blackman's goal with shots that demanded meaningful save's. Mehmeti was involved in most of what we did well but we also saw the all too familiar aspects of his play that frustrate to the extreme. Hornet's boss Tom Cleverley tweaked something in the half time break as City were lack lustre in the 2nd period and once the home side took the lead there was only going to be one winner. Twine almost gave City an equalizer very late on with a long range curling shot which thudded against the goal frame but that was pretty much all he did other than getting booked within 60 seconds of coming on. Next up is Wayne Rooney's Plymouth who come to Ashton Gate for a rare 3.00 PM Saturday kick off off the back of a 6-1 drubbing at Carrow Road - what could possibly go wrong for us!!! 1 Quote

The turtle Posted Wednesday at 15:11 Posted Wednesday at 15:11 Half way through so far!!.. great debating this week guys, you really got into it. Interesting conversation re twine!! I think his truth somewhere between @headhunter and Ian. I don't think he is an auto pick for selection, nor do I think he's a write off. (One of the few who does have time) Why? Since bird started playing as a 10 without twine on the left , he's come into his own and excelled. Simply put - he has the shirt. For twine to play, that would mean no bird. (I don't think they compliment each other at all) I get it's about squad management, however for twine to get the bulk of the games; he has to show he's more worthy of the 10 spot. Something he's failed to do thus far/combined with bird stepping up. Till this point, bird deserves to be playing 10. 4 Quote

It’s a bit of an issue that LM might now see Bird as a 10, having bought him, Twine and Eathy (loan) in. Notwithstanding the fit of a no10 with Armstrong and Mayulu. Is it gonna be players over system, or t’other way around. 2 Quote

Mcguane / knight / bird That midfield has in the main looked rock solid and efficient. I mean knight alone becomes a much better player with MC there. But as you point out, it then leaves problems. Well/mayula/Armstrong into one. Knight/bird/earthy into one My prediction/hopebased on that problem= We'll end up with 3-4-1-2. Two strikers upfront ... As that solves one issue. Bird/twine -battle it out at 10. Earthy will get time elsewhere but not number 10, but that's simply because he won't be here next season. ........ However, I accept it's much more likely we go back to the twine on the left/hybrid 10 roles. Or 3421 .... And that's not to even go into all the 4 at the back options. ... I just think it would be a shame to mess with the holy 3 too much, because there is so much potential there , already looking good as a unit. I mean the fact we don't score enough isn't down to those three. Quote
Davefevs Posted Wednesday at 17:10 Posted Wednesday at 17:10 @The turtle something has to give somewhere. No idea which way LM will go, but my gut feel is that someone will cop it to get Twine into the set-up. 2 Quote
Engvall’s Splinter Posted Wednesday at 17:17 Posted Wednesday at 17:17 (edited) **** me, could Ian get any further inside Scott Twine. He’s desperate for that Christmas card from Tinnion. Edited Wednesday at 17:18 by Engvall’s Splinter 1 Quote
Engvall’s Splinter Posted Wednesday at 17:20 Posted Wednesday at 17:20 Never known a bloke spout more pointless stats to try and defend BT. Points on the board (and 3 points at that) are the ones which matter. Who gives a shit about who’s played more forward passes in 90 minutes. 1 Quote

My issue was and is that Bird was playing as the 10 before we signed Twine and was doing a decent job. We then signed Earthy and then still decided to bring Twine in. It just was not needed. That money could have been spent on a midfielder or extra funds spent on a striker. Quote
Engvall’s Splinter Posted Wednesday at 17:58 Posted Wednesday at 17:58 “If Cornick is the answer, what’s the question” My question is to those involved in recruitment actually Ian - Why did we spunk money on Twine (way over the odds) and sign TWO “punts” to replace our outgoing top scorer ? 1 Quote

Wonder if Ian etc regret that round of applause they gave for our summer recruitment? 1 Quote
