Forget Manning, Tinnion out.

All a bit rapid if true, it’s only been six weeks since the fans forum. Could do a lot worse than Biff coming in with the contacts he must have.

I heard last week there had been a 'spectacular falling out' between Tinnion and someone. Wasn't any context or substance so seemed provocative posting at the time but sounds like something has happened...

I respectfully disagree.

Football isn’t entertainment, it’s sport. It’s not a movie or a theatre production where everyone’s on the same page with the intent of impressing a crowd.

There are 2 teams out there opposing each other and for the large part their sole intention is win at all costs.

The reason performances are important is because they’re usually an indicator of results. Not many teams can continually play badly and nick results, so of course the goal is to play “well” or at least with a method designed to get the results.

I could be in a minority of 1, but I’d take winning every game 1-0 in a style that we saw Boxing Day over an “entertaining” (frustrating!) game such as Stoke for example.

The reason I berate the style is because longer term that way of playing is unlikely to produce the results we want.

For most the entertainment is everything that surrounds the 90 minutes. Seeing mates, visiting new places, the hope we have 3 hours before kick off.

I’m with you.

And the reason is that if we did try to attempt to play like that, it would be a sign of a single identity, a plan, coherence, etc.  Whereas what we are getting is all manner of stuff at the moment.

I agree it's a sport.

However, didn't BT say when they employed LM, that they wanted front foot football ( a hideous overused term ) and for the fans to be entertained.

I also understand ( from a comment posted on here ) that SL told the Rugby lot, to change their way of playing, and revert back to a more entertaining way.

It could happen but I thought the Lansdowns considered Tinnion integral.

Never been the case. He is absolutely expendable to them. Steve has already sacked him once, let's not forget.

It certainly makes the timing of his decision to step away from the FBC podcast rather interesting....

I believe that’s coincidental mate. “Editorial differences”

If some of what he's been up to is true then he may well not.

Anyway, it's dreadful timing with the window about to open and terrifying that Jon Lansdown could now basically be running everything.

Inbox me hun.  I need to know so I can inject it into my veins.

I have no idea if anyone has lost their job, but at the fans forum Tinnion blurted out something about he'd be sacked if we don't get success now.

And whenever he does leave the club, I'll respect him for his service in multiple roles, and the passion he's got for our club.

Tinion is an absolute fraud and shouldn't be anywhere near the rank he currently holds the bloke can barely speak,  but with the lansdowns in charge there is absolutely no way tinion is going anywhere! Tinion will be throwing manning under the bus as we speak to save his own skin just like he did with nige.

And Danny wilson.

I did surmise that at the time!

Interesting if true.

If Tinns has gone then no doubt we’ll get a proper replacement of some stature and reputation within the game.

Announce Joe Burnell.

I don't know who he is

I was quite surprised, at the Pompey game, where one of our legends (whose name I had better not divulge) was quite critical of Tinnion. Maybe a case of 2+2=5 but it would make sense as a few of us chatting to said legend were genuinely surprised.

Bailey Wright obviously. 😉

Would be good news for the club you’d say. Nothing against the man personally. Would rather have heard the Lansdown’s had sold but this is something!

Surely we’ll need to act quickly to fill the gap(s?) now between LM and the ownership.

Yes, IIRC everything was mainly positive about him when he was here, more than can be said for some.

He’s firing up Championship Manager as I type!  Unfortunately he’s using the 2012/13 database disk he got from Mark Ashton for Xmas!

Is that the one where you had to pay a 10% facilitation fee on any transfer in or out, unmarked bills (I've no idea what that means), to be left in a brown paper bag, under the big tree in Ashton Hill Plantation?

I can absolutely believe that, but just giving my view generally - I dont even know if I'm in a minority of 1 tbh.

What I can say is yesterday ticked both boxes and made the 6 hour round trip well worth it.

Same.

Honestly I don't know personally enough of the bloke to jump publicly to any conclusions personality-wise (though I've no reason to disbelieve some of what has been said before). The main thing is that this possibly might indicate a change of direction from the club at the top, which sounds like a positive. Not going to get ahead of myself mind.

If this is true then this is the most perfect (late) Xmas gift we could possibly receive…..too late in my opinion as he has managed to spunk some of the finances away, but at least he is going…..don’t ever come back Brian, you aint wanted.

Interested to know what people’s issue with the transfer business Tins has done is? Apart from this summers strikers and Mebude has it been that bad? And you are never going to get all recruitment right?

I think with many it goes way beyond transfer business.

Only really on a performance and competence basis. It’d be easy to dislike Tinnion because of his alleged “manoeuvrings” both in Wilson and Pearson but football fans are fickle and if they thought he was competent, they’d move on. The issue is we’ve had contradictory and frankly ridiculous statements from his lips, tetchiness when questioned, dubious transfer dealings, sulks on twitter and although it’s crap, the spelling and grammar for someone in a senior position at a multi million pound company isn’t exuding confidence.

If this is the end though, then I’d say nothing sums up Tinnion more than the signing of Adam Murphy. A player not signed by the prior regime when there were medical concerns. Arrives and is immediately hyped to the heavens. Mysteriously absent under an “extended pre season” and seemingly never touching football at this level now. It ticks all the Tinnion boxes - poor recruitment, ignoring the advice of experts, ridiculous hyping and then just plain bullshit.

So yeah, does go beyond. But professionally more than anything else.

Being surprised might narrow the culprits down a bit. You're right to keep it under your hat though.

Did notice there was a cherry face missing in the coffee shop the other day.

May be coincidental but I did wonder if Ian Gay’s losing the plot of the podcast linked to Tinnion being under pressure.
