Well that's sad. They worked miracles to get up, and then gave it a really good go last season. I found myself begrudgingly rooting for them, whilst gritting my teeth about the fawning over their horrible little ground.

It will always be mocked until it works out. Granted in the Gas' position I'd be against it seeing how close they are to relegation. I'm more inclined when you're a safe midtable club so even if it doesn't work out you can quickly pivot and more than likely be fine.

Like Sunderland did with Le Bris - a risk yes but one that so far has paid off (unlike Beale beforehand)

Lopetegui now confirmed as sacked

Unfortunate, losing his main striker crashing his Ferrari into a tree, and Bowen out for an extended period.

Does show how precarious the managerial gig is. I suspect the Luton squad this year isn't markedly lower in quality than the one they got promoted with. They made a decent fist of it last year, don't strike me as prima Donna "too good for the Championship" types so you wonder why it's gone so pear shaped this season?

I suspect Edwards will get a decent job soon enough.

Makes Liam Manning now the 7th current longest serving Championship manager, at just 14 months! Really highlights how short in time managers get in this day and age.

That's mindboggling. As you say, really shows how short term it all is.

I feel for sad Edwards. Hope he does well in his next role.

True but he was struggling before then. I think there's a strong element of being careful what you wish for. Moyes is far from glamorous and his football certainly not tika taka but in many ways he paid the price for getting more out of that West Ham team than most managers would and then, when the form dropped off a little, he was seen as underachieving rather than overachieving by a smaller margin than before.

I'm prepared to be shocked but my gut reaction is that I'm not sure what else another manager would get out the Everton squad. Things might change now the takeover as gone through but, as it stands, I'm not sure that 16th place constitutes an underachievement.

Indeed, more likely to go down now hopefully. That said Jose is favourite and his always wins a trophy wherever he goes; Championship title maybe!

I'm sure he will just join the failed managers merry go round.

Wonder what the average Championship Manager tenure is? Clearly some get poached too ie Corberan but..can't be much over a year surely?

Alan Dicks was Manager for 13 years. City then had 7 Managers in the next 14 years. The club's on field fortunes dictate a Manager's tenure.

True but it is still less than it once was. Plus Managers getting poached if they do quite well.

Anyway we sacked one for no apparent reason 14 months or so ago! Could even argue GJ was harsh albeit maybe he had truly run his course, I was a bit gutted when he went.

Cotts was quite sabotaged by the hierarchy but at the same time we were conceding a lot of Goals and were heading for a Relegation scrap. He could've been a bit more pragmatic too, and waited as revenue free to benefit from Summer 2016 onwards..a bit of both there.
