City oz Posted January 8 Posted January 8 A young Robbie Cook goalkeeper from Perth Glory has recently been signed by Leads (48 hours ago) Robbie also attracted interest from Man United and Sunderland. Robbie is a graduate from the Perth Glory Academy. If the City scouts had an inkling to look out of the box this would be a great signing for us and give some competition to Max. Robbie is only 17 years old and a great talent. Quote
Sir Geoff Posted January 8 Posted January 8 We don't need competition for Max. If we sign a keeper he has to be better than Max. 9 1 3 Quote

Couple of flaws: We would have been up against Leeds, Man Utd and Sunderland and probably the only club of the four he knew nothing about even if he's heard of us How many 17 year old goalkeepers are competing for a first team place at Championship level? I'll answer for you - none. Unless he's a right unit for his age he would get eaten alive and every corner would be under the crossbar with the opposition equivalents of McNally and Dickie literally beating the kid up. My guess is signed for the future...........whether that's 6 months, 12 months or two years will depend on the lad himself. 1 Quote

He is If this kid is an absolute unit and is genuinely in contention for selection at 17 then fair play to him. That sounds like a once or twice a generation kind of talent. There is a degree of I'll believe it when I see it at this point though. Daniel Farke could be setting himself up for huge criticism if that went wrong and would need to have incredible faith in such a young lad. Regardless of how good he's meant to be, should he play, I would be certainly testing him out if I was Leeds next opposition. The other thing is if he's that good he would never have picked us in a million years over the others, anyway, unless we offered him daft money and a low release clause!! 1 Quote
Numero Uno Posted January 8 Posted January 8 Looking at the news articles on the transfer it seems there is no way whatsoever he is replacing Meslier and Karl Darlow at this stage. It sounds completely mental to me tbh that a team with an experienced manager like Farke would gamble on a 17 year old keeper to get them to the Premier League.......Fantasy Island stuff that would most likely see you lose your job. Might I suggest we tried the 'developing' route with Bajic? Poor lad's had few chances, and when they've come, he's received pelters on here. If we are looking for a keeper - I'd suggest we have other issues - then it needs to be an oven-ready player. 1 Quote

And the likelihood that the forums of Leeds are suggesting replacing Meslier with him is because Meslier had an absolute mare (not for the first time) against Hull last weekend and, in normal football fan knee jerk style, a proportion of the Leeds fans are saying that anyone would be better than him, even if it’s a 17 year old they’ve never seen play. Highly likely Darlow gets a run but this kid? No way. 3 Quote

Just looked at the leads comments on face book and he’s listed for this weekend. What I’m trying to explain is there are opportunities further a field and “daft money “ you hit the nail on the head. Or what about that young 17 year old Aussie striker we took into our academy 18 years ago before Leeds making it popular - Rob Stambolziev. We were told what a great prospect he was, turned out a great big dud. Quote

Barry Hepburn is playing in tier off the Austrian league on loan from Bayern Munich second team where he played with Liam Morrison that QPR signed who is doing really well Hepburn is a young winger that I'm sure will get a few turn outs for the Scotland under 21 side since he is still 20 Wasn't gonna mention him but did since your mentioning lower league Austrian football Quote
