Curr Avon Posted January 8 Posted January 8 (edited) Wow, that's a surprise! Julen Lopetegui sacked: West Ham manager leaves after just six months in charge - BBC Sport West Ham sack manager Lopetegui 8 January 2025, 15:22 GMT West Ham have sacked manager Julen Lopetegui after just six months in charge. Former Wolves boss Lopetegui, 58, took over at the London club in July after the departure of predecessor David Moyes. The Hammers have won just six Premier League games during his time in charge. Saturday's 4-1 defeat by Manchester City was West Ham's ninth loss in 20 league games this season and left the club 14th, seven points above the relegation zone. The club have held talks with former Chelsea and Brighton boss Graham Potter about succeeding Lopetegui, initially on a short-term deal. Edited January 8 by Curr Avon 2 1 Quote
The Nest Egg Posted January 8 Posted January 8 The West Ham cycle continues. Overachieve by finishing 7th and getting to Europe (or in this case winning the damn thing!), get too big for their boots, fire the guy who brought them success, hire someone who plays the 'West Ham Way' (not seen since the 60s), return to their normal level, get angry about it, sack the manager. 7 Quote

A bit like us though, failed to do proper due diligence re style of play. Lopetegeu is as pragmatic in style as Moyes was. 3 1 Quote
Markthehorn Posted January 8 Posted January 8 I presume Potter has agreed to join and play the “West Ham way”? Quote
Mr Popodopolous Posted January 8 Posted January 8 As I said to a West Ham fan I know when it first smeegrd that he might go, "Like Pellegrini Mk. 2 isn't it". Sack Moyes, after doing okay impressive, save a big wedge for new manager, change style albeit Pellegrini 18 months rather than 6 but it basically is similar. Quote
Mendip City Posted January 8 Posted January 8 1. Where would they be if they’d kept Moyes? 2. And the time before? 3. Where would Man U be if they had kept Moyes? 4. Where would we be if we’d appointed Moyes?? Answers: 1. Better off 2. Better off 3. Better off 4. Probably where we are… 1 5 Quote
Mr Popodopolous Posted January 8 Posted January 8 Not so sure about Man United, some youth internal and external started to arise under his successor Van Gaal however but then he got sacked...and Mourinho and youth, big continuity difference there Quote
Superjack Posted January 8 Posted January 8 One less manager that I can't understand a word of on MOTD. Just Emery and the Bournemouth bloke to go now. Quote
