Guest DrFaustus Posted December 28, 2003 Posted December 28, 2003 Earlier in the season when some of your mob were calling for Danny to be sacked, I posted (as an outsider), that I was convinced you'd be in the mix this year. Now obviously, I've not seen any of your games this season, but talking to sh1thead mates, reading reports and your forum and watching the highlights, it's clear you can get an automatic spot, let alone the play offs. What do you all think now? EAT RAY GRAYDON
potbelly Posted December 28, 2003 Posted December 28, 2003 What do you all think now? I think you are a closet City fan and it is only a matter of time until you are crossing the river to watch 1st division football and ordering a "Jacki" t-shirt from "The Incider"

I have no time for the "I hate City" brigade that's all and wish you all the best. (Except on the increasingly rare occasions you're in the same division as us) It was a serious question. EAT OUR SQUAD
Guest DrFaustus Posted December 28, 2003 Posted December 28, 2003 I know quite a few closet City 'fans' amongst the Gas rank and file. Quite natural, I suppose, as they are Bristolian afterall. I'm no fan of City, but think I know what you mean RG. My team are ####, I have loads of City mates, live in an 82 area and mean no-one any harm. I wish I hadn't bothered asking the question! EAT DANNY WILSON
potbelly Posted December 28, 2003 Posted December 28, 2003 DrFaustus. Think of this along the line of sprouts. For many years you refuse to eat them but everytime you go into a bloody supermarket they are there. You can`t get away from them, they just exist. Then one day you decide to try one. Maybe you are at a girlfriends mums house and too polite to say no, but you do it. You eat a sprout. Before you know it you are talking to your friends and they admit that they have eaten sprouts and some will say enjoyed them. You are now a sprout eater. I bet you had some yourself this very week. I did. Never say never.

I saw my first Rovers game 32 years ago, then saw City, then Rovers etc etc. The year that we got promoted (1974), clinched it for me...Smash and Grab and all that. I still saw a few City games in the home end after that, but none since 1976. Fair to say, I'm blue now mate! As for sprouts...in a curry, with eggs, chillies and lager. Loads of Gas. Happy New Year to you all. EAT SPROUTS
screech Posted December 29, 2003 Posted December 29, 2003 To answer the original post, i don't truly believe we will go up automatically because of the awful start to the season we have had, we have to get at least 45 points from 22 games which would mean winning mostly every game we now play, a task i feel which is beyond us. Had we a better start to the season with 4 more wins on the board i would now be saying we will be aiming for a comfortable top 2 finish, if we can remain unbeaten throughout January and February with the majority of games ending in a win rather than draws we stand a chance, looking at Aprils fixtures when we play all of the top clubs, City will need to be away from the chasing pack in case of any slip ups, sorry to be Dr Death Dr Faustus but for me it looks like we have let this one pass us by already with our very slow start against the mid tablers and relegation certs. Edit: Must add that i think we will make the payoffs comfortably though, hopefully then with a lot of good fortune we can get the right results to see us promoted.

We don't need to get a set number of points, what we need to do is get 5/6 more than QPR between now and the end of the season. If we do that we'll be champions with QPR second, and Plymouth will have fallen away into 3rd. Don't forget we've still got both of them up at the Gate yet so the dream is still very much alive.
screech Posted December 29, 2003 Posted December 29, 2003 Why will Plymouth fall away??????? They are quite rightly top of the league and 9 points ahead of us, they have the best side in the division right now and they have scored more goals than anyone else in this league, they have lost the least amount of games in the division along with QPR.
cityboy Posted December 29, 2003 Posted December 29, 2003 Agreed, however I still think that we will finish above them by the time the season has ended. Hey, I could be wrong though - after all I did place my money on Arsenal for the Premiership and they're behind Moan Utd now........
