Guest cider gliders
What a great pleasure it was to meet ole Big John, we ad a long chat with him, an what a smashin` bloke he is! Also it was nice to speak to ole Geoff Merrick again and ole the other ex city players! To have a chat to the great Don Clark, Jack White, Alec Eisentrager an Andy Micklewright was a day we`ll never forget! Congratulations to the people who arranged it, and why not do it more often. Thanks for a great day!
fct
John Galley scored the first hat trick I saw down the 'Gate, back in 1973 I think it was when City came from 1-3 down at half time to win 5-3. His equalising goal was a corker, sending a volley into the far corner at the old Open End. As for Geoff Merrick, a brilliant player and fantastic servant for the club, one of Eight Men I believe should have the freedom of the club to come for free whenever they want. No guesses why. October 23rd 1971 that game were young un! 3-1 down at half time against Leyton Orient, great hat-trick from big John to win 5-3. We do remember that game as if it were yesterday! We were in the East End that day too! 100% agree what you say about Geoff Merrick! The guy is a True City Legend! He went out of his way to spend a lot of time with the fans yesterday! A super guy! cider head
nice to see city players of old mixing with the fans, i bet in 20 years time we won't see the current squad do it? mabe tins or the doc, but it did puzzle me as there were no players that were there from say mid 80's and 90's shame..
