Spookily enough, I signed up last night, a geezer from the club phone a while ago and was doing his best to sell it to me, I could not be arsed at that time but he did follow up the call and I agreed to it last night.

I have to say I was quite impressed when I looked (fleetingly)at it, in particular the highlights.

They actually employ people to call and sell BCFC World? That is interesting.

I agree with RZ. I very rarely look at BCFC World as it does get a bit dull. The only time I really go on there is to listen to the match. I think more input from the fans would be good and some more in-depth stuff from DW rather than the usual football clichés. I thought the AGM presentation was good. It would be nice to have more coverage of things like the Tinman evening (or did I miss something?).

Maybe we could get some celebrity fan interviews or something: Tony Robinson, Jonathan Pearce, the Wurzels, Lord Archer, the Casualty cast, that bloke from The Office, etc. This would definitely get the punters in, as would a live webchat with DW, SL, etc.

Maybe Tomarse could bring this up at whatever meeting he attends with the board. I think BCFC World is really one of the only ways to secure revenue from the expats, relocated Briz types, etc. so a bit more creativity would go a lot further than flogging a dead horse with these annoying bloody ads, that actually turn me off rather than drawing me in.

I got a call a few months back as well. Seemed ok at first, just asking what I thought of the website, forum usage etc.

Then BANG...

"why haven't you renewed your BCFC World subscription?"

I was shocked! I knew there must of been some motive behind the call other than just seeing if I'm happy with the site etc. I was actually about to renew but I'm bloody fed up with it being continuously shoved down my throat, even when you sign up you still get the "welcome" page offering subscriptions to you. So that was that, haven't renewed since and don't really want to now.

Although I have never subscribed to it, the impression that I get is that most things appear on the main site anyway (interviews, news etc).

The only time that I need commentary is if we're away, and most of the time it's broadcast on BBC Radio (1548MW in full) anyway.

Did try signing up for a "free trial" a few weeks ago though, that was until I was asked for my card details. The reason was something like "If you decide to carry on after the trial period, you don't need to enter your details!" So that the money can be taken anyway, no thanks.

The impression that I get is that the interviews are dull and predictable. That's not really going to make me want to subscribe now is it?

The only thing that would really interest me are the highlight packages that appear on there.

I don't intend on subscribing any time soon.

Can be good and match highlights are pretty good although quality sometimes lacking (picture that is), particularly useful as HTV coverage is so limited.

Interviews are dull and predicatable - not just because they interview the same people all the time but because the questions are not exactly challenging or delving.

Reserve judgement for a bit longer before I decide to continue subscription :D

(2nd attempt at posting this)

If I could go down Ashton Gate and give them a cheque I'd go for World: must be good to be able to watch highlights of any City game in the year. Heck, sign up in March and you're laughing: the REALLY important games to go in this season PLUS EVERY GAME of NEXT season.

But the st00pid thing is made for people who have to bother with credit. Can't just pay them £35 and ask for an ID and PWD, as the gals in the city shop -pretty as they are- probably have neither the knowledge nor the authority to grant one.

*sigh*

Cos I live here, gotta have it to listen to games- Any how/where else I can listen to Radio Briz on the PC, instead of paying for it?
No, PTV have 'exclusive rights' to broadcast match commentaries. I'm surprised they don't publicise the exclusivity of these rights anywhere in their promotional material...

I have to say, as one who subscribes annually to Bristol City World at the start of the season, I get a bit hacked off with the reduced prices they offer to less 'loyal' customers during the course of the season.

I must read back through the terms and conditions, as I do wonder if they have an obligation to provide existing customers with the reduced rates they offer to new subscribers during the year.

Coincidentally, there's a good interview on BC World today with Brian Tinnion, as announced on the official site's news section. It includes old footage of his goals, etc.

Definitely worth checking out.

It is a good interview which, I'm sure, is due to the fact that the questions posed have come from the fans, rather than Richard Latham.

Tins is a good interviewee and always comes across as natural and honest, and that, coupled with the fact that the questions are interesting, makes it much more watchable.

Left to his own devices, I'm sure Mr. Latham would have stuck to the tried and tested:

RL: "So, Brian, 500 games for the club, you must be delighted to reach that milestone."

BT: "Umm.. Yes, Richard..."

More interviews of this type in future would be much appreciated.

Bristol City World,

If you got a 56k connection then forget it the picture is the size of a match box and if you can imagine screwing your eyes up then you got an idea of what the picture is like if you got broadband then its about 4x5 inches and the picture is pretty satisfactory, there's no sound for home matches at all!!!!!!!! sound on the away matches, yes the site admin has replyed to this fact by saying that the away games come to us by video so they have sound on them, it would be nice if the city could stick a microphone at either end of the pitch, hey if the finances at the club are tight I'm sure we club together and get them a couple of microphones from maplins. As for advertising it's not to bad. fans interviews are a great idea but the site admin said that were all camera shy well i would get down there and give my opinion of the game and I'm sure that there is plenty of you out there who would love to have your say.

Also the Radio Briz commentary packed up last week during the game so we were forced to listen to that bastion of cutting-edge broadcasting Radio Chesterfield (or whatever). Sounded like a couple of grumpy Northerners mumbling at each other in a pub after 6 pints of Tetley's.

Not ideal.
