RedM
Was he the one who was married to a very talented pianist and part of the deal to bring him here was a concert piano, as they were impossible to get in Moldova. Or did I dream that bit?

Guest MaloneFM
No you're thinking of cockney ryhming slang. 'Give us tune on the Ion love'. The only one that rang bells was Peter Beardlsey, or 'Beardo', or 'quaso'.

Or did I dream that bit?Absolutely correct. Also reported at the time, his first question when talking to City about joining was 'How often will I ba allowed to visit my wife?', as when playing in Moldova the team were kept away from their families at a training camp during the season. He gets a mention in the excellent Tony Hawks book 'Playing The Moldovans At Tennis' and plays his match wearing a City top that he'd come back with after his initial trials with us. Guest Eamer
Ivan Tistimetanu was my favourite player then. Moldova captain. Met him at the City christmas party thing at the end of the relegation season and he spent all his time with the kids there.Vilmos Sebok did too, I caught his training shirt on the last day of that season should be around somewhere... Simez
I remember Sebok putting through his own net at Wolves and having Gypo shouted at him from the home fans whenever he touched the ball. I also remember Testi coming down to Weston to open the newly refurbished WHSmiths, top bloke he had time for the kids. Also heard that his Missus got a grand piano too. Wasn't Ivans debut away to Watford on a boxing day?

Whilst warming up in front of the Huddersfield fans he was getting the 'gypo' taunts and replied to them with the very same gesture as the Tranmere guy did to the Dolman on Saturday. Don't remember our fans getting too upset about that

Until then I'd have rated him as better than Tommy ever was for us in a similar kind of role.
leadman
ivan or testi, great player until he got injured, never realy the same after west brom, bell broke is leg and they equalized 7 min into injury time, nightmare day), remember him getting his first goal, notts county away, all the other city players were made up for him, shame he left realy.vilmos seebok, another good player, he was sub at preston, messing about with the ball at h/t, he hit the bar on 3 consecutive occasions and the ball came right back to him, class. England
When I was recovering from my heart attack, the doctors said I should take more exercise and go swimming every day so I joined the Swallow gym on College Green and lo and behold, it was also the haunt of City players who had a club membership. I saw many players there, usually getting over injuries and used to see Testi several times a week slogging up and down the pool - he worked so hard to get fit again and it was terrible he never regained his brilliant form for City.Met some funny people there - I think Charlie from Casualty still goes most days but I never saw him offer to help Testi Sadly I can't afford to go there myself any more.
