Pilnin
I have just painfully sat through watching the first 45 minutes at Hilsborough, and I can possibly say it is the quietist I have ever heard a football match. There just seems to be no passion, no belief, nothing! Both teams are rubbish, Pea-cock still thinks he's a centre half, and the only decent player on the pitch is Graham Coughlan. Guest The_Boy
"The 'bring a friend' offer was popular and will be used again for the Chesterfield game. We will certainly look at Ladies Day, Student Days and £1 a kid, but we must also remember that season ticket holders are the Club's 'bedrock' and will do nothing to disenfranchise them."Reply to getting more fans in the gate off the other forum, just thinking there probably wont be any season ticket holders if the atmosphere doesnt get much better and then what! We need to get more season ticket holders and encourage the current ones to bring along other people. Not be fobbed off by being told that making offers for other people will disenfranchise the season ticket holders!
gater2
They do have a bigger ground, and so i guess that their % fullness is less than ours which means singing fans will be more spread out.

Not be fobbed off by being told that making offers for other people will disenfranchise the season ticket holders! I am a season ticket holder and couldn't care less if other people get in cheaper than the price I paid per game for my ticket. I have about fifty other mates who are season ticket holders and possibly know by face about 100 more. I doubt anyone of them is bothered if people get in on the cheap to fill the ground. The club don't have to and won't make every game cheap but this saturday would have been an ideal time to try and fill the ground and get a good atmosphere. Most of us take an interest in the gate figures and most of us want to see the ground full of people. Any action the club take to achieve this will be applauded by me but yet again they fail to take any notice of a vote winner by us the fans!We need to play Rovers on a friday night close to christmas again - that was one of the best atmospheres I have been involved in at the gate in recent years. Yes the play off against Hartlepool was fantastic but only the last 3 minutes or so if my memory serves me right!Unfotunatly it seems all sexton is interested in is ripping us the fans off, so we won't be filling the ground this season unless our form dramatically inproves...... oh and the ask Steve forum is a waste of time as Malone FM has found out recently - You ask a question and SL, CS or EDF just give you a quick one line answer which really doesn't answer anything. You would have thought that someone at the club could make some sort of effort in giving a decent response to our questions but it just looks like they don't have the time too or can't be bothered. Why should women get in at vastly reduced prices, when men have to pay full whack just because they are , well men. They could just as well have a "Ginger Hair Day" or a " Size 12 Feet Day" This is 2005 for God's sake. They talk about kicking rasism out of football, then come up with blatent sexism. Give me strength.Yes, generally agree. It's a bit unnecessary as more women are coming to games now than have for decades. I suppose the point is just to come with ways to fill the ground and, as most fans are male, that they will bring their partners along for the odd game to boost the crowd. However, I see the argument that it's sexist - well, it's hard to argue it's not! It's outright discrimination! At best it's patronising and at worst a pathetic reinforcing of stereotypes.I think the reducing price idea is good, especially the"kids or a quid" games that a lot of clubs are trying now. But I'd rather have consistently lower prices for kids (or even family tickets) than these gimmicks every so often.Maybe if you want a really large crowd you could do what Oldham did last year and let everyone in free!!!!! No atmosphere at all, you could hear every word Sturrock was shouting as his was sometimes the only voice to break the silence. Appalling football too, and to think we yearn for the Championship. Nice goal by Brighton though, which was O.K. as i'd like to see them BOTH go down.
