Chippenham boss Darren Perrin today confirmed that four league clubs have expressed interest in striker James Constable. He also told the website " from now onwards, Beano (Constable) will not be talking to the press or anyone about this subject and all such communication will be via myself and the club" he added " The only people who will sell any of our players are the board of directors and myself"

" I can confirm that Bristol City, Walsall, Swansea City and Swindon Town, have enquired about his availability, and that James will at some point be training with some or all of the clubs in the near future"

Not sure about this one, having watched Constable play. He a a competent striker but Chippenham are playing 4 levels below City in the pyramid. Good to see that GJ is trawling the local non-league scene, though. At least this sort of player would be hungry for success.

This is what we need to do more of, Young english talent who are progressing and who will want success and passion. This guy sounds good and I know that Johnson has a great eye for a good player.

Worth noting Johnson's comments on him........apparently the Chippenham Town boss actually contacted City asking if the player could join us on trial.

Sounds like their boss is trying to drum up interest in the player, buy phoning up league clubs and getting him trails all over the place......

why don't we just phone up Man U, Arsenal and Chelsea and try to get them to take Fortune on trial for a couple of days and then release a story saying they are all trying to sign him!!!

same thing really!

We could do with finding the 'next Freddy Eastwood'.

There is sure to be some young non-league players that are ready to step up, it's a case of getting there first.

At least we could generate some pretty good nicknames for Constable.

And that comments ********.

As for Johnson "finding" this talent thats wrong as well. Andy King has been watching Beano since the end of last season and its been public knowledge.

Merson came to chippenham to watch Merthyr Tidful (his opponents in the fa cup) and spotted beano.

Swansea had a scout at the Newport Fa cup game and he also noticed beano.

Perrin hasnt approached anyone. And i've spoken to beano a few times and he wont join City, he's a Swindon fan.

Constable was on trial with Swindon this summer. King was reasonably impressed... Enough to say they will keep an eye on him... Onuora has inherited the job from King.

From what I know Constable will train with most of the clubs interested... He'll probably join either Swindon or City as I think the lad will want to stay reasonably local... I wouldn't be suprised if he went to Swindon because there is more chance of him going staight into the team!!!!

I've seen him play a good few times... He's pretty good... Chippenham seem to have done a good job on him.

Rich.
