Front Page Story

BRISTOL City star Scott Murray is being sued for for £14,000 by his former agent, who claims he is owed a fee from the transfer deal hat brought the player back to the club.

Mr Murray appeared at the city's Guildhall civil court yesterday for a hearing which also saw the club's chief executive, Colin Sexstone giving evidence.

Club captain Mr Murray was being pursued through the courts by Phil Smith, From First Artist Corporation. If Mr Murray loses the case he could face a bill of thousands of pounds for damages and legal costs.

Not a bad job being a footballers agent

he said in court

"On the day itself there were a number of other deals going on so I stayed in London and made some phone calls, one of which was to Colin Sexstone. I helped to get a number of points secured, which is why I invoiced Scott."

So £14000 for one phone call to Colin Sexstone = which Colin Sexstone is quoted as saying he can't remember!

You would think with a £300,000 deal going down (the cost to city of his wages) some one at the club might have written down details/minutes of any relevant phone calls - if in fact there was a call!

The wages of £2500/week last season, curent £2600, and £2700 next season add up to about £300K with appearance and goal bonus on top - so the agent is claiming 5% of that for his "work".

The football point is that Scott is on virtually Championship money (was £2900 at Reading as stated in court) and it would be nice to see some Championship form in return!!!!!!!!!
