Bristol Boy
Until January. All the talk of Aggogo signing on loan with a view to a permanent transfer, whilst not groundless, hasn't happened.I think it will unless we're guzumped by another club in January and the fact that it didn't happen today has probably cost the Gas some dough and left them with an unhappy player. So, now we have, what we have and those players will have to get us out of dire relegation trouble before Xmas or that'll really make us "an attractive proposition" for potential signings during the window.I haven't seen Savage play, however at 6' 4" and looking like a big old lump, we've nothing similar!Noble is another six footer and a "skillfull" midfielder which, in my book, puts him in the Russell & Wilkshire mould, so it will be interesting to see the team selection at Doncaster. If Brooker's fit, then I think Savage will be on the bench and Noble will start in place of Skuse in midfield. From what I've read,he sounds more central than left, to me so, if GJ goes with 4-4-2 again, he could find himself wide on the left The defence will largely depend on injuries with Partridge, Golbourne & Carey all struggling, although Sankofa will be available after suspension. So, the squad from now to January is in place and GJ WILL be judged, like it or not, at least to some degree, on THOSE PLAYERS and that's fair enough as he's signed five of them in Noble, Savage, Youga, Sankofa & Joseph and agreed Bassos' longer contract.I still think that January will see Aggogo, a defensive midfielder and a quality keeper arrive, at least.I'm amazed that he didn't sign a wide left midfielder, unless that's Noble and I'll be even more amazed if he doesn't get one in January. The Finnish lad at Cardiff looks another strong central midfielder to me and that can't be good news for Russell, Skuse, Smith G, Orr & Brown! We also shouldn't forget that nearly all the loans will terminate prior to Xmas and that only Madjo, of the seven players released by GJ, has moved for good and some of them, Keogh, for example will be heading back our way.The team selection at Doncaster will tell us a lot about what GJ wants to do, moving forward, of course that will be subject to injuries. tin
I was expecting a mini flurry of transfer activity today but the signings of Noble and Savage seem strange. Why we've added another 'creative' central midfielder is beyond me. Ok, Savage signs until January and me need a striker so that may work out but we desparately need a ball winning midfielder, left winger and a quick striker. Seemed that Finnish lad fits the bill but for whatever reason that didn't go through and that would've been the wisest signing of the lot.
