Relegation Could It Be Good For Us

I'm very pessimistic about the position of the team and really feel that this year we will go down but would it be so bad. Firstly we get local derbies against the gas for a season or two and when we get promoted back to league one we'll automatically go up the following year just like Hull and Plymouth. Whatever happens i'll still support my beloved city.

You sound very confident we'll come back up straight away!

I think it would be very dangerous for us to even consider relegation as a good thing because it could also ruin us.

We thought we would bounce back friend....6 years later and all that...not a good thing at all.

Still, see you next year!

The Gas thought they would bounce back and it hasn't (to this day) ever happened. Relegation be good for us? NO WAY.

We get relegated, we become smaller than we are as we are not a big club. We have a big stadium, but I don't see us as a big club.

If we go down, we become smaller.

Exactly.

The players you would then attract would be either journeymen at the end of their careers, freeloaders, crap players, or those just wanting a taste of the Bristol high life.

Oops, that last sentence has a strange resonance.

I cannot think of a single benefit that relegation would bring to the club. When it happened back in the 80's it was a necessary consequence of our situation and ultimately gave us the time to restructure and build a platform.

Whatever our final standing is this season then for sure it has to be out of the bottom four.Fortunately our diabolical run of results have occured early enough in the season that time is still on our side.In a perverse way the poor start that G.J. has got off to could ultimately galvanise a positive mentality with him and those around him as they climb up the table, hopefully a year from now that spirit will still be in place with our club at the opposite end of the table.

Get real mate, can you really stoumach the thought of Bristol City vs Grays Athletic next season? Because at the moment, it will be.

Not necessarily.

Keen followers of Conference football will have noticed that Accrington Stanley have been closing Gray's lead at the top (including beating them on their own ground last week) and now sit just one point behind them! :D
