NATCHER Posted February 10, 2004 Posted February 10, 2004 .......City always let you down ???? I ask this because, not only has my other half told me so on umpteen occasions, but also, an old friend I saw today (not seen in 10 years) said exactly the same thing. It got me thinking a bit. Yes, of course they've let me down, if they never, we'd be s####ing it out at the top of the Prem., and having nights out with european giants such as Juventus, Real Madrid and Brian Munich. But, always let me down ? Of course not, the best days/nights of my life have been with my first love, and those memories stay with me and even grow in time. Will City "let me down" come May ? Time will tell, but one things certain, I'll be back again in August, after all "I'm City 'till I die" !!!!!!!!
Robbored Posted February 10, 2004 Posted February 10, 2004 The bottom line is that City let you down more often than not.Thats why they are still in division two and have been in the lower leagues for most of the clubs existence.... Something like 4 or 5 successfull seasons in all that time.(I'm sure someone will correct me on that.)... Sure....some of my best memories are related to City as well but then so are many of my worst. I've now got to the point where I try not to have to many optimistic thoughts about City because in the past when I've been optimistic I've nearly always been let down. Now I almost always expect to City to lose away from home...and when they do I don't feel as bad.If they win then its nice to be proved wrong....Thats the coping strategy thats developed in me over years of disapointment.
bobby Posted February 10, 2004 Posted February 10, 2004 I don't think City let me down. I remain optimistic, want them to win every game and get promoted etc etc. but remain realistic about the chances of this happening. I go to watch City and support them because, whilst not being a Bristolian, I have lived here for 20 years and I enjoy watching live football. Made the choice 16 years ago to watch and support city and have stuck with it ever since. When we lose or fail in promotion challenge, or get relegated then I feel disappointed, sad, angry but not let down
bs3 Posted February 10, 2004 Posted February 10, 2004 I think thats why you gets a negative posting alot on this forum from the older ones, you prepare you self for the worst so it lessen the pain why they kick you in the teeth again.
