Bristol Boy Posted January 26, 2006 Posted January 26, 2006 You wait for months and then two come along! That we need one is beyond doubt but it's the clearest indication that GJ's looking to replace Woodman with Green and play Dyer (if the story's true )in front of him.My only concern with Dyer is that he doesn't score goals and our wide players need to be able to chip in.For me strikers remain the priority particularly as Stewart or more to the point, his wage packet isn't GJ's cup of tea.
RedM Posted January 26, 2006 Posted January 26, 2006 Or he intends using Stewart, more through necessity than choice as we clearly aren't going to be held to ransom over Hayter, and he is bringing in players to provide decent service for him. If it works everyone's happy, if it doesn't Stewart will be off in the summer and some are happy! The bottom line is, in my opinion, that it is too close to call regarding what division we will be in next season. We aren't going to break the bank and sign up players that we won't be able to afford if we do drop down. (not that it's so easy to attract anyone to relegation football at the best of times). I can see us picking up 'freebies' in the summer and building from there. I don't think we'll see 'Big Spending City' for a long while.

I don't think we'll see 'Big Spending City' for a long while.Going along with that viewpoint, I'd like to see SL make an announcement along those lines, so we all know. It's a shame when Swansea, with gates averaging only around 2,000 more than us, have just commited about £1.2m in fees and wages. In terms of Hayter then GJ should have had a plan b as soon as offer two or three was turned down.

More fool Swansea. They are by no means certainties for promotion and it'll be interesting to see if they continue their speculate to accumulate approach in the summer if they should miss out this time around. I'd rather City fans acknowledged our £8m debt and allowed Gary Johnson to find gems for a pittance in much the same manner as he managed at Yeovil.
