Gilli74 Posted January 27, 2006 Posted January 27, 2006 by far the easiest group....We should walk it !
The Casual Connoisseur Posted January 27, 2006 Posted January 27, 2006 I can't wait to go to Estonia, it's going to be class.I wouldn't say it is a foregone conclusion but we should qualify!
Portland Bill Posted January 27, 2006 Posted January 27, 2006 by far the easiest group....We should walk it !Of course we will, Russia and Croatia are real mugs arent they
Redhyde Posted January 27, 2006 Posted January 27, 2006 Perfect situation for me. We have the chance to blood new players in (un)competetive games. We are pretty much guarenteed top two for the new manager.I'd like to wish Scotland all the best in their campaign to qualify for the world cup in 2010.and yes Croatia are not a good team and Russia's team is in need of rebuilding after the last generation of players came to an end. They've got Sytchev and Izmailov and that's about it.
Guest Harvey9 Posted January 27, 2006 Posted January 27, 2006 I'd like to wish Scotland all the best in their campaign to qualify for the world cup in 2010.Why? They always cheer when we loose, wish us bad luck etc. I hope they don't qualify. Same with with the welsh
Guest North Street Posted January 27, 2006 Posted January 27, 2006 I can't wait to go to Estonia, it's going to be class.I wouldn't say it is a foregone conclusion but we should qualify!Visited Estonia after the England Finland game, top class place Tallin.

Sirben Posted January 27, 2006 Posted January 27, 2006 Bit of a trek for away matches though!! Not going to be easy away from home in some hostile places with awful pitches!!
Guest Harvey9 Posted January 27, 2006 Posted January 27, 2006 Point missed have you. It's a joke regarding their chances for 2008 qualification...Ahh i get it . I'm dumbing out a bit today, must be my flu
RedTauntonian Posted January 27, 2006 Posted January 27, 2006 Bit of a trek for away matches though!! Not going to be easy away from home in some hostile places with awful pitches!!Reading somewhere else, andorra will most likely be played in spain, and israel most likely in cyprus. So that could be two awfull pitch's out of the way.But russia away is a bit of a poo one!

If it's during winter, then God help us, because the pitch will be dreadful. Any other time of year and we should be alright.
cider army on tour Posted January 27, 2006 Posted January 27, 2006 Andorra will be played in Barca, hopefully the Nou Camp but their game against the Dutch was played in a 17000 capacity stadium. Some other great away games in there. Always wanted to go to Russia. Crotia is a lovely country but both Russia and Crotia have some of the worst hooligans left in Europe so will be a bit "hairy".Israel really appeals to me, would be an interesting country to visit as long as you stay away from certain areas and keep your wits about you.All in all an easy group, will be a great chance for Sammy A to blood some kids. Still would have enjoyed been in gorup D!!!
Boxing Kangaroo Posted January 27, 2006 Posted January 27, 2006 I think we might struggle in this group. Croatia and Russia are both tough opponents. Israel ran France and Switzerland close in the qualifying for Germany and only didn't qualify as they lost their final game. Estonia and Macedonia aren't exactly cakewalks and are tough places to visit. At least we'll be guaranteed 6 points off of Andorra.England also have the issue of a new manager coming in to contend with to further complicate matters.

They've done it before, and their club teams European matches have been switched as well. The fixtures will probably be announced at some point later today. I think the representatives from each country in the group get together to sort it out. I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that the top seed in the group gets to arrange the fixtures to suit them.
Guest RoryFice Posted January 27, 2006 Posted January 27, 2006 England should comfortably progress, and away fans will enjoy going to Estonia.Unfortunately Scotland are in deep trouble , and no games have even been played yet! France and Italy should beat us, and Ukraine probably will too. Best bit of news is that we get to play the Faroes again, meaning a fun trip thre, and we should win this time.
Guest jaybcfc Posted January 27, 2006 Posted January 27, 2006 Should qualify from this group easily enough, probably along with croatia. Group B looks a tough group, especially for scotland (could be a chance for lee miller to play against some top defenders)
Lordofthebling Posted January 27, 2006 Posted January 27, 2006 Very happy with that draw.Greece Vs Turkey should be one to watch!
Irishred Posted January 27, 2006 Posted January 27, 2006 ENGLANDCroatiaRussiaIsraelEstoniaMacedoniaAndorra Croatia - A difficult away game in prospect. These boys are as tough as nails but you should win the home match.Russia - once again they are difficult away and Moscow is one of the most dangerous cities for football fans to go to. The peace loving Irish were mauled on and off the pitch. Boring as hell away from home.Isreal - They never lie down as they have incredible spirit. The Irish had them beaten twice home and away and they came back to equalise. Watch out for the dodgy goalie - he should have got an Oscar for his performance in Landsdowne Rd.Estonia - the Baltic nations are hard to beat away and have improved their general standard. However Estonia are the weakest of them.Macedonia - In Ireland we have a term for having a bad day - 'I'm having a Macedonia!' - memories of been beaten there in the past still rankle.Andorra - Six points for England but also for everyone else!
