GeoTheCiderHead Posted January 29, 2006 Posted January 29, 2006 Traditionally, City have always attacked the Atyeo Stand second half haven't they. I've noticed that for the past 2 games we haven't. First of all versus S****horpe we lost the toss and Brian Laws being the that he is decided to switch ends but it also happened yesterday but according to my dad we actually won the toss. Can anyone shed any light on this? Is there some logic to it or has my dad got it wrong?GTCH
Mad Cyril Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 At the same time, just when did the dug outs get swapped back?Superstition conspiracy theory?
Dogbert Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 Surely as we kicked off that would suggest that Swansea chose the ends?! Or is that not how it works?Just checked:- http://www.thefa.com/TheFA/RulesAndRegulat...02/05/12107.htmA coin is tossed and the team which wins the toss decides which goal it will attack in the first half of the match. The other team takes the kick-off to start the match.
Guest We5ty Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 i don't know why they changed, but personally. considering i sit in the Atyeo, i think its alot better shooting towards the Atyeo second half, i spose it is no different for the Dolman and the Willams as they are on the side. ...and if we didnt change, the only goal of the game would have been at the other end
GeoTheCiderHead Posted January 30, 2006 Author Posted January 30, 2006 Surely as we kicked off that would suggest that Swansea chose the ends?! Or is that not how it works? Now that is actually a very good point. Better get my dad off to Specsavers!
Guest Redpepper Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 It does seem that tradition dictates that you attack your end in the 2nd half. However, a few times a season (it does seem more recently) the ends have been reversed. If I were the opposing team playing away from home I would always try to upset the opposition by having them attack their end in the first half.I might only be a small thing but even as a spectator it doesn't 'feel' right when we are attacking the Ateyo in the first half.
kiwicolin Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 and we did a huddle which hasn't happened for a while

Last two homes have been mind games.
Guest STA-BS14 Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 As for the dug-outs, after they were swapped so City's was closer to Atyeo, we were in absolutley abysmal form, so maybe superstition?!?!
Royz Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 I allways think its a bad sign when we are "swiched around" would be interesting to see the stats.
Guest Ron Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 I allways think its a bad sign when we are "swiched around" would be interesting to see the stats. After being switched around - Swansea 0-1 Bristol City
WTFiGO!?! Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 Now sitting/2 minute standing up bursts, up the EE end of the Dolman I always hope its going to be the other way around. Is true though, makes sense to shoot into the traditional home end in the 2nd half or is this the players subtly trying to tell Stevie L something Famously, Everton were losing at half time in the 2nd leg of their Cup Winners Cup Semi-Final in 1985 and Howard Kendall's team talk evolved around keeping playing as they were and the Gladys Street End would do the rest. He claimed afterwards that they actually sucked the ball into the net. Shows what an impact and responcibility supportes have in making a din. Cracking atmosphere on Saturday by the way.
22A Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 I was under the impression that all teams now kicked towards their end in the second half for TV's benefit. Winning goals are usualy scored in the 2nd half and if all the fans there rise to celebrate it looks better on the TV highlights.
Godzilla Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 It might be something to do with the fact that only 7 of the 23 goals we've scored at home this season in the league have been at the Atyeo end?ie. The players feel more confident shooting towards the East End in the second half.
