RedTop Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 Is he any good at moderating forums? He'd be okay but we'd still need someone to do it when he was away on international duty. It would surely be unrealistic to expect him to moderate from the other side of the world when he was with the Australian squad.
Nibor Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 Is he any good at moderating forums?Anyone who shies out of tackles like that would clearly last no more than 5 minutes on here Nibor

He can do the nightshift and moderate away when our Mods are tucked up in bed?!

Antman Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 Anyone who shies out of tackles like that would clearly last no more than 5 minutes on here NiborYeah! he really ducks 'em, dodges everything, a lightweight, a nobody blimey any strong wind and he's off over the dolman...etc etc etc.Sometimes, yes incredible as it sounds, sometimes it's not about 'sticking yer boot in' ol' Skippy can actually distribute the ball you see. So maybe if we'd given him the tough tackling partner he needed he might show us why he plays regularly in his national squad (oh blimey - the aussies, they're not real footballers, dodging tackles, playing the didgereedoo, etc etc...)But this is my opinion, one fan who can't see where this club is going at the moment, who cannot understand why people still happily and( in my book), blindly support a chairman who in the last 5-10 years has acheived little except a spectacular list of failures in footballing and management terms.Once again we're letting a talented individual slip away for nought. This isn't a go at you Nibor, far from it - I do respect your opinion and all that, but maybe I got up the wrong way this morning, maybe the increasing frustration and mixed messages that we, the paying fans are getting is finally getting on my t1ts. what sort of squad are we going to see? and more importantly when? If Lansdown tried so hard to get Hayter it shows he was trying to get players in, and failing. Lets not pretend that oh, actually we didn't need anyone and 'ahem' everything is fine, we're happy that Bas has signed and we've got some 19 year old loanees in, but they may not actually get a game. but we don't want to disrupt a happy squad who are struggling to survive in the division. Is it me? maybe I'm getting old and the grumpy gland has started pumping out general grumpiness around my system! But this is a cr appy situation made worse by stupid PR and the chairman clearly distancing himself from his critics. This was a light hearted thread up to now, sorry about that.Is it too early to have a drink?

But this is a cr appy situation made worse by stupid PR and the chairman clearly distancing himself from his critics. This was a light hearted thread up to now, sorry about that.Is it too early to have a drink?I can see where you're coming from but I disagree with some of it.We're playing 442. That's probably because it's a simple system that the players are comfortable with.In a 442 at this level, you can't afford for one central midfielder to not do defensive work. It's not so much about blood and guts and getting stuck in, it's more about affording the opposition too much space. We all saw what happened in the first 18 or so games of the season where we did this.If we were playing 352, particularly if we were in the division above, we could get away with starting Wilkshire regularly, but I don't think we can right now.Add to that the conjecture that he's very highly paid, which isn't that hard to believe considering what we paid and where we got him from, and I think it's clear why he hasn't been offered a new contract.I think what GJ is trying to do is build a hard working side built on a solid defence with pace to attack with. In my view that's almost exactly what it takes to get promoted from league one. You then need to add some quality to it in the next division. He also appears to be drastically cutting the wage bill, which I can only guess is to give him more freedom in the summer.Nibor
PhatWill Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 Why the hell wasn't he put on the transfer list at the start of January is my one and only comment on Wilkshire.
Nibor Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 Why the hell wasn't he put on the transfer list at the start of January is my one and only comment on Wilkshire.According to Johnson his name was circulated "a few weeks ago" which would be near enough. He also made the point that Wilkshire wasn't dropped, he just couldn't win his place back.I agree we should have protected our investment better, and I think we should really have sold him in the summer since it was probably obvious then that we weren't going to be able to afford to offer a new deal.Nibor

Lets not forget that the wages have been drastically reduced for the last 2 years, and back then we were told that our finances would settle down as a consequence . They haven't - why?Someone raised the hideous memory of Steve Jones!!! we paid nigh on £500K for him!! Steve L was finance director then, then there's been Seebok, Anderson, Anderson (fatty) and whole host more, one hell of a lot of wastage. Aaron Brown, Rosenior Jr, Ayinsah, Hill (for only 100K) and also it looks like Fortune will be off for nought in the summer. We've been up and down this road a lot so I won't go on more than I have, and I guess if anything it does point to the logic of raiding the lower leagues for players like Noble et al.The Wilkshire situation is a good example. But then again maybe no-one wants him! pure and simpleThings are only worth what people pay for them.Pint of absyinthe anyone? makes the day go better

He's been unhappy at BCFC for well over a year now.Tinnion would have made the decision not to circulate his name in the summer which was a mistake.
