Guest ashtonyate Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 The transfer window has closed and we end up with a few loan players no new foward to speak of,so its back to the wall type game for the rest of the season. We have started to play better over the past few weeks still not scoring enough.Other teams have signed new player,Swindon look quiet strong up front what worries me is can we pull clear or will we get suck in to a relagation battle, have we got enough good player to get us out of trouble and what if brooker got injured we have got enough cover if that happensThe real worrie is if Rovers go up and we go down which at this moment in time is possable, fans would turn their backs on the club to put it into free fall. The manager and Chairman may have taken a gamble too far, by not signing a top class foward instead of a trainee

To buy a' top class forward' you would need a fair bit of cash.

Bristol Boy Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 We can still loan if we get injuries, however, barring long term injuries to key players, I'll predict we stay up on the basis of winning most of our home games, finish with 60-65 points and between 8-12th.
CiderHider Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 It could cost the Club a lot more if we go downWe could have spent 2m on players and still ended up going down, i think we have more than enough quality to stay up though, i admit its a risk expecially if Brooker gets a long term injury, but we are not going down, no way.
22A Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 The real worrie is if Rovers go up and we go down which at this moment in time is possable, fans would turn their backs on the club to put it into free fall. You've suppported City since 1950. 1954 Rovers climbed above City but fans didn't turn their backs then, nor did they in 82 and 83 when the gas were a division above City. Remember the noise eminatinfg from the easyville board room in those days? I quote from the history book; "An off pitch row erupted when City's adverts proclaimed them to be Bristol's top club. The directors at Eastville pointed out Rovers were in a higher division. The riposte from Ashton Gate was that the word was club not team!" If City were relegated, I for one would still look people in the face and tell them I'm a Bristol City fan.CTID!!!
Guest Ron Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 It could cost the Club a lot more if we go downWe've lost 1 in our last 10 and spent sweet fa so i don't see your problem

WTFiGO!?! Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 have we got enough good player to get us out of trouble and what if brooker got injured we have got enough cover if that happensThe real worrie is if Rovers go up and we go down which at this moment in time is possable, fans would turn their backs on the club to put it into free fall.We do have the quality and the spirit judging by Saturday and our 10 game sequence. The fans are the Club in my eyes as we are the only permanent feature of it.Getting Brooker injured could spell trouble but one shouldn't be thinking the unthinkable (and can't by definition in fact!) about Sags, relegation etc. Thinking such surreal thoughts is scary and frankly ill advised.Never stop believing!
Guest Ron Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 You will if Brooker gets injured. We have a taller, faster, self-proclaimed "Target-Man" waiting in the wings so no, I don't think I will.
Nibor Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 We have a taller, faster, self-proclaimed "Target-Man" waiting in the wings so no, I don't think I will.I admire your optimism. If this loan signing is anywhere near as good as Brooker I will be surprised. Currently Brooker is one of the only two goal threats in the team, if we lost him we'd be screwed.Nibor

bh_red Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 besides, if do suffer these injury problems there will no doubt be a couple of players in the academy who can cover.............easy.....no problems at all!
Guest Ron Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 I admire your optimism. It's either that or turn into Ashtonyate Currently Brooker is one of the only two goal threats in the team, if we lost him we'd be screwed.Currently yes, but GJ had faith in Bas Savage when others didn't and he's been better than most of us expected, the first time I saw him I thought he'd get about 2 touches and lose it both times, but he really gets involved in the game and his hold up play is good, and the same with Basso, he was an unknown quantity but his inclusion in the team has paid dividends recently. Calvin Andrew comes here with much higher expectations so I expect him to live up to them, as with Bas.

[Yes we seen what type of player you can loan, the two from Charlton were not much good in the end no one will loan you a good player only kids][You've suppported City since 1950. 1954 Rovers climbed above City but fans didn't turn their backs then, nor did they in 82 and 83 when the gas were a division above City. bh red Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 disagree, numbers would be down, but still around the 9 - 10k mark, I for one would still by a season ticket, either way, it is very unlikely that we will be in that position.

So far we have had, Rob Burch, Adam Green, Liam Fontaine, James Quinn, Tony Grant, Osei Sankofa, Kelly Youga, David Noble, Bas Savage, and Marc Joseph.
