Guest Jags11 Posted January 10, 2007 Share Posted January 10, 2007 Heavy grounds, more games with teams higher in our league, our current away record for max points and extra cup games surely confirm that money is spent NOW to strengthen our squad with a centre forward and a winger We all know how the ever trusting City support will feel if we have to suffer this league one another year and not increase our team strength to get into the Championship this year. The transfer window system is a complete farce, and if it means we get someone on the last day, for clubs who desperately want to sell, then fine. Frankly the system offers no benefit to both buying and selling clubs in our league. You can take advantage like Peterborough have done and buy lots of non league players, whos clubs need to sell for the finance, however buying in our own and surrounding clubs leads to players wanting too much money to sign a contract, or threaten to leave for nothing. Therefore they raise the prices to stupid amounts and clubs like us can't afford it.Yeh everybody would like us to sign a Grant Holt type player, that ain't going to happen, cos he would have signed by now. All the promising league two players are being snapped up by championship clubs ala Roberts to Ipswich and Kightly to Wolves. So thats not possible. Just like last year, Fans are expecting us to sign countless star players in this transfer window. Well we're 4th, 3 points off 1st with our current squad. We need a left winger yes, but as for a striker we have 4 capable of scoring goals, so i don't think we need one that bad. If jevons starts to show his cup form in the league, he can score the goals we need. Don't expect too much, it simply ain't going to happen. If we fail to go up then you can say I told you so. BCAGFC Posted January 10, 2007 Share Posted January 10, 2007 If we don't sign anyone this month I cannot see us getting automatic promotion and the play offs could also be a struggle.The defence and goalkeeping positions are well covered but it is in midfield an attack that we have the problems.Brooker is always likely to break down again and Showunmis' injury record isn't much better either so Jevons is the only consistently fit striker and he is out of form ATM.A left midfielder/winger is desperately needed to make the team more balanced and possibly another attacking or creative goalscoring midfielder.This is our best chance to get automatic promotion for years and it would be a pity if the season was wasted due to lack of ambition on the management/board side.bcagfc Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

If you want us to go out spend hundreds of thousands on a striker and still not get promoted at the end of the season then fair enough, but frankly, would a big signing help, ok.....any ideas? Um Tevez maybe, yeh hes set the world alight at West Ham. Time to get realistic, i've already said we need a left winger, we are a league one club, with a pretty decent squad as it is.Oh and I think its GJ who will sign who he wants, as already said, nowt to do with who Lansdown wants, hes supported every manager with buying a player so far.
