Guest CTFC
Hello everyone. This is my first post here on this website. I have a friend inside Whaddon Road who has just called me and said Bristol City have bought our Brian Wilson. Bristol City have appearntly offered a Player called Scott Brown in exchange.I just wanted to know if you know anything about Scott Brown? Is he any good, what posistion does he play? I understand he was injured in a reserve game at our ground, is he fit?Thank you in advance for your answers.
Barrs Court Red
He's a quality little player, who has been slightly unlucky with injury. Scores goals and works hard.
Guest two fingers
I for one will be gutted to see Scott go. I think he is an assett to the club but feel that he is out of favour because he is not one of 'johnsons signings'.....He is a quality player and has a good shooting foot on him. He is not afraid to tackle which is something I think is missing from the modern game.I am hoping this is all just rumour............

bh_red
possibly true, apparenty Crewe are after him, but cheltenham have agreed a fee of 100k with Plymouth, can playing left back, right back and left wing?out of contract at the end of the season and Chelts have transfer listed him, hope Brown isn't let go, though Ward has been after him for a while
Guest two fingers
so, wilson plays right back, left wing, and right wing - god, if he plays up front thats all possibilities covered, wonder what he'd be like in goal!!!!This is madness - surely 'if' true Johnson has lost the plot........ We have all been crying out for a left winger who scores goals, it looks like Johnson has sourced one and he has lost the plot. Why? because he's offering Scott Brown in exchange? Whatever the fans view of him, Scotty is a fringe squad player at best here if he moves on and we get a decent replacement that's good business. Dave L
This is madness - surely 'if' true Johnson has lost the plot........Not at all. Wilson is a highly rated young player who used to be on Man U's books. He started as a right back but over the last two seasons has been converted to a dangerous attacking wide player who can play on both flanks. Everyone seems to agree that's one of the major gaps in the squad. He scored against us in the League Cup game at their place. He is being sought by Championship clubs and 'if' we buy him I'll consider it potentially a very good signing. The main question mark I have about this deal is whether or not Scott Brown will be interested in going to Cheltenham.

Brianred
So if championship clubs are chasing Wilson , why would he want to come to City? Has SL told GJ if you want players in you will have to do swap deals, there is no cash? Brown is an up and coming player and should stay. He is one of our players who really gives his all. Bristol Boy
This sounds like it could be true.Couple of questions:1.Why do we want another defender?2.Why offer Scott Brown.............unless he won't sign another contract?3.Looks like he won't get a game in central midfield. 4.Can't see him moving to a relegation threatened outfit (no offence, mate) when he was being touted as a player that was being looked at by Championship Clubs (allegedly) earlier this season. I can think of two possibilities off the top of my head. It's Chelts that are interested in Brown and GJ has seen an opportunity to get an ideal replacement.Wardy has said to GJ, we don't want to lose a member of our squad in the middle of the season so Johnson has suggested Scotty as a makeweight to sugar the deal. cidercity1987
According to Cheltenham's site he scored 10 goals in 52 games last season, not too bad, but struggling comparatively this season. Only 3 goals in 26 starts, but if he's good enough for Plymouth, he's surely good enough for us.Seems no point keeping hold of Brown if he's not in Johnson's plans, and if it helps provide a sweetener for Cheltenham then that's all the better.Maybe we're saving the cash for that forward everyone seems to want? I've thought for a while that Scott Brown isn' in GJ's plans - otherwise he wouldn't have been allowed to go into the last year of his contract. He's been a bit unlucky because he seems to pick up an injury that keeps him out for a month every time things start going well for him.

Dave L
it's a clear 2 fingers up to the fans No it isn't!It's moving on a player who has seldom been a first choice for Wilson, Tinnion or Johnson, who plays in a position where we have plenty of competition from better players, in order to bring in a quality player who will substantially improve the squad. I like Scott Brown. He never gives less than 100% and we'll certainly miss that attitude if he goes, but to suggest that GJ is getting rid of him just to have a go at the fans is ridiculous. The guy is a trier for sure and he is a useful sub because he can fill in anywhere along the middle four. I don't think he has shown any consistent form in any one position and that might be down to that versatility. He is approaching 22 years old now and getting beyond the "promising youngster" stage, remember that Johnson has the academy guys coming through as well and has to take them into account as well. Does anyone know when his contract expires? That might be a factor as well.Perhaps because HB he don't get the chance with a decent run in the side?Unlike a certain family member?Debate........... dezgimed
Does Scott want to play in League 2 next season?Because thats hit reality.Surely we can try and give the lad some vocal support on Sat? Show Johnson this move isnt welcome!
