Hardly the most mouth watering stats on soccerbase.

Seems he had his best days at Oldham!

http://www.soccerbase.com/players_details.sd?playerid=8950

didn't so to badly at colchester either.. seems he does better in this league than he does in the championship, overall i didnt think his games to goal ratio was to bad..

Anyone know what kind of striker he is?

yes he nearly scored in the first half, was very slow but had a few efforts outside the box, but kept getting beat to balls by bradley orr, which doesnt say much for pace

I thought he was one of the subs they brought on that helped change the game. Didn't he come on first and then Stern John?

Yeah, think he was brought on a sub.. adebola and kyle started upfront for them that night.

Here we go once again judging before he has even taken the field

I don't judge players nor will i give him less than 110% support at Oldham tomorrow.

My observation was purely that from a stats POV, they aren't the best - but infact better than Enochs!

Experienced striker and with Jevo out for AT LEAST two weeks-that could be a month-he'll be dead handy as he's got an excellent, better than 1:3 record at this level.

5' 10"

11st

28/29

Quick & Strong

And can play right wing or as a pacy strker.

Got 1:7 for Sheff Weds when on loan and never really had a shout at Palace or Cov-although his goals record would suggest he'll only do it at this level.

I reckon we'll sign someone similar but better in the next two weeks and, hopefully, a left winger.

He had his best days in League One......the one we're trying to get out of.

Compared to Barry Corr, Quinn & Calvin Andrew, he'll do for me and let's hope GJ has got a short term loan right for once.

With three big games in eight days we need the cover.....and he's quicker than any striker at our club apart from Williams, who's young and whose stats ain't great either.

Quite right, the guy has been in Championship squads all season, if Enoch or Brooker get injured after 5 minutes tomorrow this is the sort of cover you want from the bench.

ITS A GOOD SIGNING!

SHOWS THAT GARY KNOWS HIS STUFF AND IS NOT JUST GETTING YOUNG KIDS IN LOAN

MUST ALSO SQUASH THE RUMOURS ABOUT GARY OFF TO COVENTRY!

WELL DONE GARY, KEEP IT UP.....

Wayne Andrews was the supersub who came on against Barnsley for the Sky Blues. The fans were shouting "you don't know what your'e doing" to Adams (when he took McKenzie off). Within 20 seconds he scored.

He scored on a pre-season and then injured his ankle. Came back in Late October and was then loaned out.

For some reason he has not been given a run out with Coventry. There were 'rumours' that he and Adams had a difference of opinion. He is not a big bloke but he is pretty sturdy. Adams was interviewed early December and he said that Andrews needed to get some games under his belt so that he could regain his physical fitness--Ref Sheffield Wednesday loan spell.

He was sent to Sheffield and was mainly used as a sub. Came back and did play as sub for last few games.

He did not start against Bristol City in the cup but came on in the 53rd minute.

(The deal must have been done before the Tuesday game because it was unusual for him not being on the bench).

He will be an OK signing for you. He does have short bursts of speed. From what I have seen of Bristol City this season he will fit in nicely. Your team like to pass the ball and can also take teams apart.

I am surprised Coventry have let him go especially given that Adams has gone.

The only thing I can think of is that Coventry have been trying to trim the wage bill. (The finances have been poor this season and there are rumours of Administration or potential investors).

I think that GJ's moves in the transfer market this close season have so far been very promising. Jevons gets injured and we instantly get a replacement who should be capable at this level and offers a bit more variety to the squad. To put his goals/games ratio into perspective you need to strip out all of his starts at right wing imo.

Wilson is also a good buy. Orr and Keogh are very good defensively at this level but both have weaknesses particularly in the final third of the pitch.

Does GJ ever buy players who can only play in one position???

I assume he's been brought in as a goal maker rather than a goal getter... GJ has said that Coventry didn't want to extend his loan at Wednesday cos he was doing too well. Well i don't know about you, but 1 in 9 (inc sub) appearances for a striker isn't a great return, so i guess his all round play has been excellent and his contribution for the team has been valuable, but without the goals.

With the form that Murray's in, could he be looking at operating Murray as a striker and Andrews on the wing? Who knows... Before this signing, i was thinking it'd be Eunich up front and Wilson on the left wing. I guess there's this that can be said... we've got options.

I recall us being after Andrews a couple of years ago. Not sure if it was under Tinnion or Wilson. Had some pace and remember him playing for Colchester. If he had his best days at Oldham then perhaps he can find his goal scoring feet and bang a few goals in for us tomorrow? He played in the cup game at ashton gate with Stern John IF I remember rightly. Guess he will be ok to play in the jpt Tuesday night too. Good news then!!

This is taken of the sheffield wednesday site in late December. An unbiased view of him as a player.

I was just wondering how Wayne Andrews is getting on with Sheffield Wednesday. He has never been given a chance at Coventry because he fell out with the manager.

Not good enough IMO. He's played pretty much every game since he came but we're short in right midfield.

Shocking first touch, which was proved yesterday when it just happened to fly past the keeper into the bottom corner.

re: Wayne Andrews

To be fair to the lad he has done us a huge favour by helping us out.

We made a bit of an error leaving ourselves with just one right winger, a player that spent alot of last season injured aswell.

He has certainly kept the balance to or midfield and prevented us from having to switch Brunt to the right in Smalls absence.

Each game he has played he has put in maximum effort and has played his part in our fine run of form.

However once Small is fully fit, and i mean FULLY fit not just 70%, we should be moving Andrews on. Personally i don't consider him to be better than McAllister or the other youngsters that could do a short term job in future, or at least the gap in ability isn't sufficient to warrant the higher wage.

So i'd opt for a quality winger to challange Small for the right wing slot properly or just stick with the youngsters as back-up.

Poor touch , Poor Awareness , Doesn't have a trick and only seems able to run in a straight line and blast the ball really hard.

The latter came in handy for his goal against Barnsley though

A decent lower division centre forward. Bags of enthusiasm and wins lots of free kicks.

Grateful for his help but lack of control or idea means I don't want to keep him longer than necessary.

I'm going to give him his due untill ive seen him play but by the looks of his stats its another striker were going to have on loan that will of been a waste of time. Why don't we just sign someone decent for once.

Probably not as easy as that Cityboy

I saw him play for peterborough in Div 2/league 1, when he was there on loan in '99. on his debut (think it was debut) got 4 goals looked quite good and quick, then couldnt hit a barn door after that except for the 1 other goal he got in his time there.

I saw him play for Crystal Palace against Blackburn when they were in the Premiership, he came on as a sub, but I remeber him being quick and powerfull, and hasnt everyone been saying we need a pacey striker anyway?

I expect we've got Andrews as cover for Phil Jevons. But, if we're still looking to bring a striker in on a permanent deal, isnt this a strange signing ? If we DO bring in someone else, it would leave Andrews sat on the bench.

So what do you think ? Is he INSTEAD of a permanent signing ? Or another Guy Madjo ?

My oldham mate said he was like lightening for them a few years back when they got in the play-offs. Had to leave Oldham though cos the chairman at the time nearly bankrupt the club!!

My Palace loving mate 'Pete the Pole' has a differing view:

"Ha ha. Useles s*ck of sh1t. Lazy as ######. Bit of a Prima Donna. He was the butt of all Palace jokes, but so was Collymore when he played for us, so you never know?"

Let's hope he is wrong.

He had his best days at Oldham was lightening upfront for them. Has been on loan at Sheffield Wednesday though and scored two goals so not too bad.

Similar to what my Oldham mate said but he also said he was a diver. Suits me if he ahem, wins a 90 minute penalty.

That's quality! Brooker goes off and Wilson scores, spot on! Do we use his as a striker next game in place of some quality ones we allready have that is the question!!
