Boro Tickets - what should have happened

I am a season ticket holder and would like to say a few words...

Normal Game = Approximately 7000 Season Ticket holders plus 3000 ish other loyal supporters who pay on the day

Of those 3000 "loyal pay on the door fans", I would say at least 50% actually go to the game with a Season Ticket Holder, so they would have asked their "Season Ticket Friend" to sort them out with a ticket, which is fair enough as Season Ticket Holders should be given priority to purchase more than just their own seat!!!

WHAT SHOULD HAVE HAPPENED.....

Boro = Season Ticket Holders only should have had Thursday, Friday and Saturday to purchase their own tickets and given the opportunity to purchase 2 more tickets for friends and family. This was the way it was always done in the past, so why did the board allow tickets to be sold to every Tom, d### and Glory boy fan on the first day of distribution !!!

From Monday, the tickets should have gone on general sale to anyone.

Unfortunately, some of the loyal fans (approx 3000 as mentioned above) have now missed out attending the cup match, 1 being my best mate who comes with me every week. I feel really sorry for fans who are not season ticket holders who regulary attend the gate, missing out on the match. As mentioned this includes a close friend of mine.

When picking up my ticket today, I was told that the reason tickets were been made available to anyone from Thursday, was down to the time constraints. Utter bull.

Lets see how they handle tickets if we play the Gas......another balls up I expect and our once again some of our 3000 ish loyal fans who go week in and week out, will miss out on another cracking cup game in the making. As the glory fans will again get on the band wagon !!

I will be writing to Sexton.

Absolutely right. I'd only allow each season ticket holder to have ONE additional ticket though. I sit with 5 other season ticket holders and so to allow us to purchase up to 12 extra tickets is a bit ridiculous and would open the door for touting.

This would certainly cut down on the amount of phone calls and personal callers the club would recieve though.

If we beat Brighton on Tuesday, the club will in all likelihood have only 3 and a half working days to sell tickets prior to the gas game.

I think we can all expect to be hanging on the phone for hours at the same time next week!

how about those who don't know a season ticket holder? this has happened in the past with Season Ticket holders and there was belame because people who didn't know a ST holder might not have stood a chance of getting a ticket AT ALL! however that situation only happened from the Mill Stad and Wembley games.

Releasing General Sale Tickets in person and on the phone at the Same time as Season Ticket holders was a mistake and General Sale should have been held until Sunday/Monday, however for a home game there is no reason to allow ST ticket holders to purchase extra tickets.

the only thing City really did wrong was underestimate the amount of people that actually wanted tickets, NO-ONE expected 9000 tickets to be sold in one day!

As a supporter who comes down but not a regular, I'd just like to say, that the organization for this has been a joke. I cant beleive sexton has actually pissed off the regulars at the Gate quite so cynically, for the flippin glory hunters who will Ive no doubt crawl out in equally large numbers for the sad sags game, and should we manage it, turn up in huge numbers for the JPT Final

Sexton is now interested in these *fans* a hell of a lot more than the rest of us long suffering saps (ESPECIALLY the ST holders & regulars)

what should have happened is what happened at the three previous micky mouse finals and the Chelski FA Cup game: ST Holders, cCity 2000, supporters Club, THEN the rest of the fans........

I feel very sorry for those of ya who've missed out to Sextons antics..........one day we might get our club back!

Good post.

It would also make things a lot simpler (and easier) if season ticket holders could purchase their seats over the net. If I remember rightly, this was going to be looked in to after the play off final ticket fiasco a few years back but nothing seems to have come of it. Surely something like this can't be too difficult or expensive to set up to set up?

Many other clubs also offer a cup payment scheme to their season ticket holders. You give the club details of a credit/debit card and sign something saying that you agree to purchase your seat for every home game, not covered by your season ticket. The club them automatically charges your card and sends you your seat, without you actually having to do a thing!

Simple or what!
