midland red
trying to please all the people would be extremely difficult, i think the club were trying to sell as many tickets as quickly as possible with tonights games in mind, come thursday they might have a similar problem, in hindsight and with more time available i am sure they could have come up with a suitable system.yours midland red. RedTop
There are more supporters than there are tickets. Some fans will therefore be disappointed, no matter how it is done. Those who lose out and understandably feel aggrieved will always find a 'better' alternative that would have enabled them to get a ticket.Season tickets were looked after first. When it became clear there was a problem on the phones they extended the time. I have not read a single ST holder on here who was still unable to get through and book their ticket before the deadline. As more tickets have been released because of ST holders not taking up their seats and Middlesboro not selling their allocation, they have been released. The club will always be accused of a 'shambles' when demand outstrips supply. There have been some PR disasters in the past, but I really don't think this is one.
kiwicolin
one thing they could do next time is to phone all the saesonticket holders up first and ask them do they want tickets.if they dothen they can buy them straight away . if not then they will go on saleto others.this is all time comsuming and time is the key word for this gamecoming up. It would take weeks. The club have clearly been caught unawares by the demand - I don't think we have sold out for a couple of years - and I can't remember a game selling like this in the past 10 years. Your "tough shit" approach was noted from an earlier post, most helpful. There was no differentiation between regular supporters and casual. This morning was a lottery.big game coming up........1. st holders first2, regular non st holders able to purchase tickets, through proof of prior purchase3, tickets released for general sale.4, correct and updated information available on main site and online ticket office.5, smug people who had their tickets days ago and dontseewhatthefussisboutascolinsdoingagreatjob to be defalted with sharp pin
RedTop
In what way were st holders looked after first? ST holders were given four or five days to claim their tickets. I've read Nibor's experience and if this is a general problem then the club needs to address it either with better phone lines or more staff on.Your "tough shit" approach was noted from an earlier post, most helpful. It's not a 'tough shit' approach. It's just a realistic approach. I just defy anyone to try to sell 20,000-odd tickets when there are vastly more people who want them and not get accused of running a shambles. It's also unfortunate but there are bound to be some bad experiences among those who try to get tickets when there are so many people involved. There was no differentiation between regular supporters and casual. So you don't count season ticket holders as regulars? Normally the club do use a system of away vouchers given out at a distant game, but this also has weaknesses. I'm guessing that getting fans to bring along ten stubs or something to prove their devotion also has problems - imagine the number of fans complaining they had 'lost' them or not bothered to keep them, for example. However you do it, there will ALWAYS be genuine hard-luck stories.correct and updated information available on main site and online ticket office.Agreed. If this has not been the case more needs to be done to make sure it is up to date.smug people who had their tickets days ago and dontseewhatthefussisboutascolinsdoingagreatjob to be defalted with sharp pinI'm not smug. Just relieved.
Guest Eddie
This has not been badly handled by the club....who cares if a few 'fairweather' supporters who jump on the bandwagon miss out...I certainly don't.I remember it being very easy to get a ticket for the cup game against Gillingham.... Guest Eddie
You should get in touch with Nibor, i'm sure he would be interested in your views on being a fairweather supporterThat is one example, there is always going to be one person who feels treated unfairly when dealing with 7000 season ticket holders. He had days to get his ticket so was either incompetent or the club ####ed up....if they did then I am sure they will give him a ticket as a gesture of goodwill! Guest snowy_RDFC
Priority should have definitely been with regular supporters or supporters club members or something.Just chucking all the tickets out on general sale (ex. st's) was a farce, and sent the message out that they just wanted to get rid of them, at the expense of loyal supporters. Those seats that do not belong to season ticket holders went on general sale.i know. :noexpression: my mistake. what i meant was, as has been exhaustivly posted, normally at most clubs ( including Yeovil )for a big game the st's usually go first then priority groups if any and then general sale.I think you will find a general dissatisfaction in the way our ticketing has been handled. There is a big long list of questions about how it was handled and imho for a aspirational "big" club it has been almostfarcical.Hope that answers your post ,which did not consist of a smiley and a grunt ... btw am sick of this subject now...... you reds
