exiledinwatford
On first name chummy terms with the Boro players and plenty of bookings for our lads. Remember away to Leicester in 2001 - Paul Durkin
robins72
Yes my husband shouted "have you got your contacts in Durkin" to which he chuckled away. Funny I always liked Durkin as a ref. Graham Poll last refed our play-off win against Hartlepool and compared the gate to Barcelonas stadium for atmosphere. Lets hope we rock the gate again for him!! Big Red Rich
Poll is a horrendous ref but is not the worst. I would have cried had it have been Styles, Dowd, Dean or Rennie or from lower down the leagues; Singh, Kettle or that joker from last night. The best referees at the moment IMO are Clattenburg, Halsey and that bald policeman Webb. dezgimed
We've had Phil Dowd and Chris Foy this season..Thought Dowd was excellent and Foy awful.Certainly wouldnt want Uriah or Singh thats for sure.

robins72
I think this has to be our 9th or 10th Premiership ref this season. Has to be a record for us surely?

Awful refs!Andy Hall is definitely the worse! I remember him sending off Sankofa for a shoulder barge away to Swindon, and Wilkshire for nothing away to Huddersfield. What a ####! GrahamC
Not my cup of tea, I'll never forget his comments against Kingstonian, the guy will surely be on first name terms with our opponents whilst calling our lot by their numbers, too. robins72
Williamson sent off Brown and Butler at Chesterfield. Brown I could understand but Butler was trying to stop a fight going on the pitch. Ref was awful that day!! Still we had him at Brighton the next season and won 4-1!

I would love to have him ref all of our games. Halsey aint to bad either. Not many good refs out there unfortunately
cidercity1987
Halsey was hardly flavour of the month on here after the Forest away game though. I agree though that Clattenberg and Webb seem a cut above any of the other referees.

Forest away he was simpy shocking!!!Exactly my thoughts, I cannot stand halsey after that fulham v arsenal penalty incident and then forest away!I just hope come half time Poll remembers which team's kick off it is, unlike tonight :noexpression:

The Humble Realist
I know this sounds stupid but i actually think Poll is a good ref.YES he made quite possibly the biggest cock up in world football history at the world cup but now he is jsut geting criticised for nothing.Like Chalrton Vs Fulham, the linesman gave a handball when the Charlton player did not even touch the ball(NOT poll) and form the resulting freekick Fulham scored even though there was absolutly nothing to do with Poll, was ENTIRELY the linesman fault, everyone wa slike "poll always wants to be centre of attention"Last season i thought he was one of the better refs. Yeah sure, he makes mistakes but all refs do. The fact that he knows the Prem players is the same with all the other Prem refs, and yes i do think it makes a difference, maybe 5050s go their way but Poll isnt worse than the refs we get normally! Riaz
Terrible newshe could ruin a potentially cracking cup tie. He's one of these refs who thinks the game is about him.......I'm disappointed... almost gutted
