Guest holgateboro
Evening all,Just thought i'd pop by before the match on Saturday! I'm expecting a tough game as you lot are in very good form at the moment, although we have improved our own form since the turn of the year so I'm hopefull we will be able to sneak through It should be a cracking atmosphere as I know you have sold out and we have also sold our 3000 allocation. I'm looking forward to visiting your ground as it makes a change to a lot of the modern, "bowl" stadiums that are common place these days (the Riverside included)Just one thing, where would be the best place to on Saturday? I don't mind walking a mile or so from the ground if it means avoiding a lot of the post match traffic. Most Boro fans post on our Rivals site - www.fmttm.com and I know a few have visited your own Rivals site. All the best for the rest of the season after Saturday, I know you have been pretty to close to promotion over the last few years so its about time you got what you deserved.Lets hope for an entertaining Cup tie! cidercity1987
Well done on selling all your tickets. Away crowds at Ashton Gate are normally around 300, so it'll be good to have some banter with 10 times that number of fans. Should be a quality atmosphere.I've had a look on your rivals site, you lot seem to have had as much trouble with tickets as we have.As for parking, there are plenty of side roads around the ground. Winterstoke Road and Coronation Road are the worst ones for traffic after a game so avoid them if you can. Obviously we're normally used to 12,000 so traffic isn't too bad, might be different on Saturday though.
Guest holgateboro
Cheers for the advice, I'm planning on getting into Bristol fairly early so hopefully there shouldn't be too much hassle getting to the ground.Got to be honest, I don't know too many of your players. Who should we be worried about on Saturday? Does Luke Wilkshire still play for you? I remember he left us about 3 or 4 years ago and I've not heard too much about him recently. Bristol Boy
Lots of discussion on here, Holgate about the number you've sold from your initial 3,100 allocation. Our CEO has stated that City negotiated the return of some of your allocation and you'll be in the East End which was for many years the traditional Home End.City fans aren't normally allowed in the EE and it rattles with the biggest away League following being Brighton who brought 650.If you bring 3,000 there will be 4,500 fans in the EE on Saturday.Coventry brought about 2,900 and the EE looked 3/4 full. Can you confirm the number of tickets you've sold from an official source as these things tend to get a bit out of hand on the old rumour mill!! Glad to see Boateng suspended.......only need Viduka & Yakubu plus Downing of course, to turn their ankle on the way off the coach and we'll be fine. CheersBB
Guest DanC
Where to drink? I hear the pumphouse is a good un for away fans' and not to far from the ground, Or you could always try the three lions Alex Webber recommends the Pumphouse and the Nova Scotia for away supporters by the waterfront, but adds that pubs nearer to the ground such as the Hen & Chicken and The Rising Sun should be given a wide berth. The Robins pub, which is situated a few minutes walk from the away end and was a favourite for away fans has now alas become a pub for 'home supporters' only. Please note that alcohol is not available to away fans inside the ground.Good luck on Sat, Enjoy the very basic facilities of the EE, Will be a real throwback to you I guess. I'm hoping this game will be like the game we had against Everton at AG in the Carling cup a few years back. A real classic that was.
EmersonsKev
Wilkshire left on a Bosman in the summer to go and play in Holand for FC Twente, if i'm wrong then i'm sure someone will right my wrong. As you say you are arriving early on Saturday and after a quick exit i'd advise you to park by Megabowl on the dual carriageway facing Bristol. However i wouldn't be confident on being able to get a drink in pubs in and around Ashton Gate i suspect they may all be on home fans only which is usually the case for bigger games. I remember he left us about 3 or 4 years ago and I've not heard too much about him recently.Luke Wilkshire left City on the advice of Gus Hiddink and now plays in Holland. To be fair he finally found his best position in a 4-4-2 for us was on the left of midfield, stepping in.Good player but not the toughest tackler on the planet and his wages would have probably prevented him staying here as he joined in the Wilson era when money was more wildly spent.Good luck after Saturday........well, unless there's a replay!! Tipps
Luke left in the summer, after a half decent world cup for the aussies (spit) on a bosman.Players to look out for, personally........ Enoch could be a handfull and if Brooks is fit (touch and go every week), he's by far our best forward. From the rest, Jamie McCallister is quality (left back) and our midfield have started coming into their own recently..... Add to that " The Rock at the back" (Louis Carey). So that leaves our right back, well....whoever that is (Keogh or Orr) will give 110% throughout the game, although they may not be the most talented, expect Downing to take a few.......There we go, I've scouted our team for you, that should save Big Nose from reading too much :noexpression:

I hear the pumphouse is a good un for away fans' and not to far from the ground,The Pumphouse is closed at the moment, but the Nova Scotia on the other side of the river is away fan friendly with good beer and food. It's a small pub, but if its not raining there's loads of space outside. Guest holgateboro
Bristol boy, according to our website we have sold 3150 tickets, an allocation that was supposedly reduced from the intial 4600 allocation. Like I said, general sale tickets only went on sale today and they were all gone by 5 o'clock. There have been occasions over the years where our ticket distribution has been shambolic, so there could be some innacuracies regarding how many we have sold somewhere Boro TicketsBoateng has not had a particularly good season by his standards, although we have often struggled when he is not in the team. We have a very good young player in Lee Cattermole who will be more than up for the challenge of moving into the Boat's position.Yakubu and Viduka particularly, have been in fantastic form recently and will hopefully make things difficult for you.If you have any players who are very good in the air or have genuine pace they will cause us problems. We always struggle against pace. Oh and if you have a useless striker that hasn't scored for years get your money on him to score saturday! Emile Heskey has probably scored 90% of his goals against us!

Thanks for that.We were indeed given that figure as your allocation and then things got confusing when the CEO said that some had been returned and then said he had negotiated a further return, hence the posts and confusion earlier There are about twenty posts on here about tickets at least and to say that it's been a contentious issue in the understatement of the year.Looks like 4,600 in the EE on Saturday, a crowd of about 19,000 and minimal segregation although based on that 19,000 there will still be about 2,300 empty seats
JonPikeUK
Well Enoch Showumni is 6ft 5 and is scroing well, and our centre back is 6ft 6 so any ping pong (we get a lot in Div 3) is fine by us. Pace is not bad, if we use a youngster called Jennison Myrie Williams you may have fun, other than that we play a passing game and can entertain. We have injuries to 2 strikers, so we are limited up front. If both team enter into the cup spirit, I think we could have 4 or 5 goals. Our centre backs are as good as you get in the lower divisions, and both could cope a league higher, so they will enjoy the challenge of playing 2 quality strikers. Your win last week caused a few worries though... Hope you enjoy the visit, my last game against Boro was on the away terrace at Ayresome, in the rain, fog, cold...Centre back may be 6'6", but sadly I think he'll be in the stands suspended... Rudolf Hucker
... and our centre back is 6ft 6 ...Unfortunately, our 6'6" centre back is serving a suspension and will miss the game on Saturday. Guest MaloneFM
Danny Wilson is doing a decent job at Hartlepool at the moment.I shall enlighten you. To some it seems like Danny Wilson never left and would have taken us up if only he was given more time despite the fact he was responsible for sinking more ships that the captain of the Bismark. Scott Murray despite him having the legendary 26 goal season and going to Reading...which may or may not bring us back to 'I see Lita scored again...why did we get rid?'...didn't like it and came back again.Mr Murray is now on fire again. Mr Murray is due for contract renewal. Are the two related? Who knows.

Guest holgateboro
Somertonian, don't believe everything the Boro site says, yesterday it was telling us we had sold 3150 tickets! What they should have said is that they stupidly sent 1400 or so back before they had even gone on general sale. We have only sold 1750, but we would have sold a lot more if they hadn't have behaved like amateurs. There will be Boro fans coming down without tickets.
