Bristol Boy Posted February 16, 2007 Posted February 16, 2007 Am I right in thinking that they have both been fit to start about a third of our games or less together?Brooker's travelled to Blackpool, Showunmi hasn't.No wonder GJ tried to sign Holt or Pospisil or another target man before the deadline.I hope he's looking for a loan nowUnreal
robins72 Posted February 16, 2007 Posted February 16, 2007 Thats been the problem all season though Ian weve never had a fit striking duo. Either Brooker and Enoch Enoch alone Brooker alone, Jevons nightmare!!! No wonder we don't have a striker in the top 8 goalscorers in our league!!! COuld cost us automatic promotion.

Which will be 27 after tomorrow, obviously.Shocking, isn't it? For all the flak dished out at Jevons, his availability record in comparison is excellent.

We really need another striker and consider our options with Brooker. His a good player at this level, but no use to anybody if he continues to follow in the footsteps of Darren Anderton!
Redhyde Posted February 16, 2007 Posted February 16, 2007 Did anyone really expect Brooker to complete a season? He's only managed two 40+ seasons in the 7 years he's been a regular first team member. And Showunmi has only missed 14 of 41, that's not horrendous. Last season he clocked 42 appearances. Why are people lumping them in the same bracket? Why haven't we seen Obafemi Martins and Michael Owen play together? Well because Owen's got a serious injury... I really don't see the point in this.I'm sure GJ is looking for another striker, but it'll be a case of the right one rather than anyone as always!

But it would explain why they never play together.
Admin Phantom Posted February 16, 2007 Admin Posted February 16, 2007 Are you saying that Showumni and Brooker are in fact one and the same person? This is dynamite! But it would explain why they never play together. That is one hell of a costune change, even Ethan Hunt would struggle to pull that one off !

Bristol Boy Posted February 16, 2007 Author Posted February 16, 2007 Are you saying that Showumni and Brooker are in fact one and the same person? They may as well be
Bristol Boy Posted February 16, 2007 Author Posted February 16, 2007 Did anyone really expect Brooker to complete a season? No He's only managed two 40+ seasons in the 7 years he's been a regular first team member.I know And Showunmi has only missed 14 of 41, that's not horrendous. It isn't great eitherLast season he clocked 42 appearances. How many as a sub Why are people lumping them in the same bracket?Because neither are available regularly and rarely are they available as a strikeforceWhy haven't we seen Obafemi Martins and Michael Owen play together?Because Owen's got a serious injury and Martins was signed as a replacement.I really don't see the point in this. The point is that we need another target man, as I mentioned in the original post.Another point is that their absence singular or mutual, may well, as Robins 72 pointed out, cost us auto promotion or even a tilt at the play offs. We'll really have to look at this in the close season, whatever division we're inI'm sure GJ is looking for another striker, but it'll be a case of the right one rather than anyone as always! As I said, he targeted Holt (wouldn't come) Pospisil (Wouldn't Come) and at least one other I know about and, as I said in the original post, I hope he's still looking HARD.
Atticus Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 Why haven't we seen Obafemi Martins and Michael Owen play together? Well because Owen's got a serious injury... I really don't see the point in this.Seriously??Why on earth mention Martins and Owen in this topic?? makes no sence to me!Owen has a serious injury, which has kept him out the entire season! Neither Brooker or Showunmi has the same injury has Owen, Just that Brooker recovers for a day then gets a new injury! How is there a comparison??? there is none, so a stupid point imo.

Brooker will come good so be patient Bristol Boy..I've been patient for 42 years mate As a vulture once famously said "Sod patience, I'm going to fly down and kill something!"..........Yep, I know :coat:
Pederho ll Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 Brooker will come good so be patient Bristol Boy..The season heading to its finale. It long past being patient with Brooker!
Guest CGS RED Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 I would not go past another 10 days, then an offer of 100,000k for the rest of the season, for the best loan striker available. There was a list as " long as your arm " quote SL, and they cant be all enjoying first team status. Pospisil, might be worth another hit on a purely loan basis. Then if we do go up perhaps a contract. 100K or even 150k is a small price to pay to ensure promotion, and then we will need some serious activity in the striker department. Championship will be too much for Andrews or Jevons, with Brooker and Showumni needing support for their limited appearance records This is now management..........not in a few weeks or a months time. Last thing we want now is some band aid solution, get it done !
SE23Red Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 Pospisil, might be worth another hit on a purely loan basis. Then if we do go up perhaps a contract. Are we allowed to complete international loans outside of the transfer window?100K or even 150k is a small price to pay to ensure promotionI'd agree with that. Now have you got a proposal that will ensure promotion?
Redhyde Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 How many as sub is irrelevent, it shows he's available to be selected! I.e not injury prone. I don't think we need 3 target men. I don't think we need more than four senior strikers on the payroll. Unless you have a MIA like Brooker, and if that's the case why does he justify his wage? Why mention the Martins Owen situation? Well because one is consistanly injured while one isn't. If Brooker has a niggle then a niggle, comes back, looks fat and unfit then gets injured again it's pretty much the same as a serious injury. Fingers crossed it doesn't happen again! The only problems we've had from the strikers is because of the cups, which we're now out of. There is no problem as Andrews, Showunmi and Brooker can all play up front on their own, with Jennison, Jevons, Betsy and Noble in a supporting role. We don't need anyone else, but it'd be nice to get more quality in.
